WHY IT’S TOTALLY OK (AND GOOD FOR YOU!) TO BE *LAZY*

6 Oct 2016

Laurence Shorter is an author, leadership coach and stand-up comedian and his latest book, The Lazy Guru’s Guide to Life (Orion Books, £14.99) is a charming and lighthearted look at a serious problem. We are all on the hamster wheel and it seems to be getting faster, so how do we stop? Is it really possible to achieve more by doing less, and be happier for it? My friend and fellow editor Sarah Prior over at Muddy Berks had a chat with laziness expert Laurence and he gave her these top tips – find out more if you want to make your day instantly better…

I’m a busy working mum, I haven’t got time to be lazy!

Lava Shell Massage at The Granary Spa

18 Aug 2016

The average person is only able to fully relax for 36 minutes a day (so says a brand new study) – that’s just three hours across the entire working week. Does this sound like you? It certainly rings true with me. In the week, on a good day, (if we both happen to be home), Mr Muddy K and I might sit down to eat for half an hour, fairly late in the evening.

14 Aug 2016

Jo Killick and Kelly Randolph are the freelance fashion stylists, marketeers and creative brains behind the You, Me & The Dream luxury beach towels.

For these working Mums going on holiday to exotic destinations to take photos of their range is practically a must. But where do the pair hang out when they are closer to home? From boutiques and beach getaways to the best spot for a coffee – lean in while they spill the beans…

The Fine Grind, Tunbridge Wells

Jo says: ‘This is a hip new coffee shop down the bottom of the High Street in Tunny Wells.

Perfect Pedi at The Peacock Rooms, Sevenoaks

29 Jul 2016

I pop over to visit friends and family in Sevenoaks a lot and was excited to hear about the brand new luxury Aveda hair salon and spa that has just opened up on the high street. So a couple of weeks ago, when the sun was sporadically putting its hat on and I knew that sandals would soon be an inevitable part of my daily wardrobe, I decided to put them to the ultimate test.

We have a winner!

1 May 2016

Well, I think it’s safe to say that the Muddy Stoke Park competition was popular! Over 2000 entries and a lot of finger crossing, but Christina St Croix obviously worked her toes too, because she has snaffled the luxe spa break for two for the night. You lucky, lucky (*sob*) lucky lady.

So it’s congratulations to Christina – commiserations to the rest of you but fear not, mes amis – it wouldn’t be Muddy without another brilliant competition skidding around the corner any minute in a sports car.

Muddy eats: Eat ‘n’ Mess, Sevenoaks

19 Apr 2016

I must admit I felt a smidge conflicted when new cake and coffee shop Eat ‘n’ Mess opened its doors just six months ago in Sevenoaks. A boutique little cakery selling the most scrummy-looking handmade offerings? Too exciting. But all the baked goodies being free of either gluten, dairy or refined sugar? Will it taste just as good? Cue, worried hand wringing…

Well of course the only way to find out was by trying as many cakes as possible, so yes, *loosens belt buckle a notch* I took a hit for the team.

First look: Beyonce’s promo for her new fitness line

1 Apr 2016

I have eaten my own body weight in cheese and chocolate this Easter. While wondering how on earth I’m going to redress the balance I’ve come across Beyonce’s hot-of-the-press promo for her new fitness range. And yes it has me a bit inspired and a bit twitchy – not necessarily to sweat it out admittedly, but definitely to buy some of the clobber.

Beyonce’s new range is called Ivy Park, inspired by the local park she exercises/thinks/finds solace in, and is available from TopShop.com from 14 April.

In I float, a vision of loveliness, wearing my flounciest, bouffiest sparkly fairy dress, waving my magic wand – brrrrrrriiing! –  giving you the chance to win the kind of prize I’d sell Prince Charming for.

Stoke Park is the hotel where Bridget Jones romped on the four poster with Daniel Carver; where Daniel Craig acted his ears off in Layercake; where James Bond played golf in Goldfinger.

Lesley’s stay young secrets!

23 Feb 2016

What does Lesley Joseph listen to before a big night out? Meatloaf’s Bat Out of Hell of course! She stole the show as Dorian on TV’s Birds of A Feather and continues to do so now the girls have reunited over 15 years later for another series. She’s also playing one of my all time favourite characters – song-belting, gin-swigging Miss Hannigan in the theatre tour of Annie, The Musical

COUNTDOWN TO GETTING RIO BODY READY!

5 Feb 2016

This summer the biggest sporting event on the planet, will be hosted in the land of the body beautiful – it’s enough to make you quiver in your control pants. I, for one, have made myself a promise that this year (just as soon as it warms up a teensy weensy bit) I’m going to peel off my bed socks, shuffle out there and finally get back in shape. Are you with me?!
