I must admit I felt a smidge conflicted when new cake and coffee shop Eat ‘n’ Mess opened its doors just six months ago in Sevenoaks. A boutique little cakery selling the most scrummy-looking handmade offerings? Too exciting. But all the baked goodies being free of either gluten, dairy or refined sugar? Will it taste just as good? Cue, worried hand wringing…
Well of course the only way to find out was by trying as many cakes as possible, so yes, *loosens belt buckle a notch* I took a hit for the team.Read more
Who cares if it’s not out until September?! The new trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby has been squirreled out onto You Tube and people, let me tell you, it’s looking very, very funny. I can just about forgive Renee Zellweger for messing around with that lovely face of hers, because thankfully she still does look very ‘Bridget’.
Colin Firth looks a little gaunt in this film in my humble opinion and Hugh Grant is apparently a no-show, but fear not – Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is on board as new wonder totty, McDreamy.Read more

I recently treated myself to something that made my pulse race. Shall I give you a clue? It was all butter-soft tan leather and white, clean, crisp lines. No, not a designer dress or handbag, but a personal organiser and it’s hardly left my side ever since.

Have you heard? Crafting, not cocktails, is the new cool. I’m not saying that champagne martinis in your local bar is totally *out* but the new way to unwind with the girls is by getting creative. Yup, there’s real figures that show, not only are ‘Stitch ’n Bitch’ sessions around the UK on the rise but so are pottery, crochet, baking and jam making classes. That’s right, folks, granny hobbies are in – in a big way.Read more
Oh I just *love* to nose around other people’s houses, don’t you?… I thought as much! Well welcome to Property Flirt, a brand new section of Muddy Stilettos Kent in which I’ll show you some pictures of a stunning local property, and drip feed you a few clues along the way, and all you have to do is guess the price! Together we can peep through the keyhole and pretend it’s actually us lazing by the infinity pool, knocking back cocktails at the mahoosive kitchen island or languishing on the plum velvet sofa in our state of the art media room.Read more
I have eaten my own body weight in cheese and chocolate this Easter. While wondering how on earth I’m going to redress the balance I’ve come across Beyonce’s hot-of-the-press promo for her new fitness range. And yes it has me a bit inspired and a bit twitchy – not necessarily to sweat it out admittedly, but definitely to buy some of the clobber.
Beyonce’s new range is called Ivy Park, inspired by the local park she exercises/thinks/finds solace in, and is available from TopShop.com from 14 April.Read more
I have discovered a new passion. Foraging. And no, I’m not referring to my rummaging around the back of the kitchen cupboards for some out-of-date pistachios to accompany an early evening G & T. I’m talking wild foraging – the search for foliage, flowers, fruit and fungi out there in its natural habitat. I know, it comes as even more of a surprise to me than you. I’m the person who made their seven-year-old son wear marigolds to clear up the apples that had fallen on the orchard floor surrounding our house because, you know, they were a *tad* mouldy.Read more
