Bringing together my 3 favourite things – a cool, quirky pop up venue; sensational food and local Kent wine…Hush Heath Winery are taking over The Old Fire Station in Tonbridge (if you haven’t yet heard about this place read my post here) from 5 – 9 April. Each night brings a different expert chef and concept – from Wine experience to Clay Oven or Fish Masterclass. The week of events is polished off with the Hush Heath Producer himself, Richard Balfour-Lynn, joining in the fun and a 5-course slap-up meal (including wine obvs).Read more
Beach holidays in Britain always come with that anxious niggle at the back of your head – will it tank down for the whole week? Well, how about an inland lake or river holiday as an alternative? Snowdrop Walk, Hever Castle, from 11 Feb
For me, there’s nothing that holds more promise than a heavenly carpet of snowdrops… (Well, apart from watching the sunrise from my beach hut in Bora Bora, but you get my drift…) It’s the sign that spring has truly sprung. Visitors can enjoy this magical trail of snowy white bulbs starting to emerge from their winter hibernation, thanks so over 60,000 snowdrop bulbs planted in the Gardens over the past six years.Read more
I’ve been curious to try out The Chapel in Tunbridge Wells and tell you about it for some time now. There’s lots about this venue that’s really very Muddy – it’s cool and quirky; it’s a totally ‘word of mouth’ place (they never advertise and there’s no external signage on the salon) and they do things a little differently (you pay for their services by the hour, rather than per treatment!).Read more

The Top 50 Gastropub Awards just took place – celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit of that food-led phenomenon, the great British pub that serves awesome grub. Organised by the Publican’s Morning Advertiser and voted for by industry insiders this is the shortlist that really matters in the pub grub world. Kent has 3 fabulous pubs in the Top 25 – each very wonderfully different in their offering – The Sportsman (seaside), The Kings Head (urbane cool) and The Compasses Inn (rural).Read more
