Bye Bye Wrinkles…
Fancy taking 10 years off your face? I reckon I may have found just the person to do it. Enter skin expert extraordinaire, Ellie Hoskin, and her team from Skin & Beauty Clinic in Tenterden...
Skin and Beauty Clinic (formerly Beautellies) is a quality results-based skin and beauty clinic, sitting pretty on Tenterden High Street in the heart of Kent. This friendly and family-run business, founded by Ellie Hoskin, is set in an attractive white-washed building on Tenterden High Street and is roughly 15 mins from Cranbrook and 20 mins from Ashford in the other direction.
Once you’re in the town there’s a convenient and centrally located Waitrose, and Tesco, car park from which it only takes around 5 mins to walk to the beauty salon so you can do your life admin as well as your beauty maintenance in one fell swoop .
If you are not in the know already, Tenterden is a pretty little town with lots of of gorgeous indie shops (we’re looking at you Kagu) and some new foodie contenders on the scene too (hello Hoof and Hook) so it’s worth making a day of it after you have had your treatment.
The salon has had a revamp since our last visit as Ellie has naturally had more time during the never-ending lockdowns to evaluate the space and think long and hard about the rebrand.
The fresh new look, complete with an abundance of greenery in the reception area, enhances its status as more skin clinic than cozy beauty salon which gives you that additional kick of confidence when coming for more result-based treatments.
What also sets this clinic apart from others within its field, are the long-standing and highly-trained staff members. Olivia who performed (and I think you will learn that ‘perform’ is the just the right word for the skilled antics that followed) has been with Skin and Beauty Clinic for ten years and is still passionate about perfecting her craft.
Our mission was to discover more about the CACI Synergy Facial (90 minutes) complete with a Dermalux LED Light Therapy additional treatment (10 minutes) which is a collagen boosting and anti-aging treatment for fine lines as well as deep set wrinkles – and suits all skin types. Surprisingly enough, people from 18 years upwards can benefit from it, as a preventative measure, and for those 25 and over, it can serve as correcting tool for any fine lines starting to form.
The team took part in a four-day CACI training programme to learn all the different tricks of the trade when it comes to this CACI facial and this was just as lockdown 3 was lifting in April this year so this is a fresh new addition to the salon’s portfolio and as you can imagine, has been a big hit with its loyal client base ever since.
First of all, you should know that this is not a free-flow facial as there are so many components to it and it is also not of the pamper variety (which they do too btw) as you may experience very small levels of discomfort along the way BUT you will leave with a noticeable difference to your face and esteem so it is all well worth it in the end!
I won’t be able to give you a blow by blow account of the 90 minutes as a lot of machinery magic was employed during this time, plus it spoils the surprise for when it’s your turn. Along the way however, you will be treated to Microdermabrasion treatment – a deeper exfoliation of your skin to renew its skin tone and texture which is a pretty good place to get things going.
Olivia talked me through every step of the way and my new favourite item in life may just be the ‘gliding goldi’ which is used on your face, as a quick jab, to remind your muscles on how to move and help with that aging process. There is a slight discomfort at times but not yelp-worthy and it is a comforting thought that the cotton buds that she uses to perform the treatment are infused with Amino peptide serum which is basically like nectar for your skin.
The mask with rosewater collagen hyaluronic acid was another highlight as Olivia smothered my face in it and then used any excess to cover my shoulders and arms for additional nurturing factor. Plus, we are told it also works as a pretty effective hangover cure for hydrated skin. Just saying…
You will also want to ensure that your facial includes the anti-wrinkle comb which combines red and blue LED photo stimulation with a high frequency microcurrent. This will help plump out lines and wrinkles and is a neat needle free alternative to collagen injections and dermal fillers.
The Dermalux LED Light Therapy additional treatment is another powerful device as it used blue and red light therapy to ‘zap’ different problem areas with the red lights focusing on anti-aging and hydrating and the blue lights have more anti-bacterial benefit so can be used to eliminate spots (especially helpful for those suffering from ‘maskne’) as well as red and troubled skin.
As the facial is a minimally invasive treatment, one of the huge plus points is that you will not leave the salon with a puffed-up red face so you are good to go as soon as you leave. You can also work out and shower so you are not limited in your movements but you are recommended to avoid direct sunlight for 48 hours.
I was out that evening with friends and family and was told on several occasions, that my skin was ‘glowing’ and I felt that feel-good (inside and out) factor too for a good few days afterwards. Of course, magic cannot last forever so this facial can be used as a one-off treatment for special occasions and the effects of the anti-aging will last between 2-5 days so it is recommended that you take part in a course of 10 for £810 and do these twice a week for 5 weeks and then do a maintenance treatment every 5 weeks or so for more semi-permanent results.
Don’t worry, there is also plenty of beauty treatments here to pamper you from head to toe, whether it be essential maintenance waxing, a results driven facial or body treatment, or a pampering manicure or pedicure, you will find what you are looking for at the Skin & Beauty Clinic.
THE MUDDY VERDICT
Good for: Those who want to achieve results and to know you are in the hands of the experts – never scrimp on corners when it comes looking after your skin. Plus it’s cheaper than a face lift and a more natural representation of you too.
Not for: If you are looking for whale-music and pampering, this is maybe not the one for you. Plus, the results are not 100% permanent so it does require financial commitment if you want to maintain that youthful looking skin.
£££: My CACI Synergy 90 minute facial cost £90 with the Dermalux LED Light Therapy costing £20 for an additional 10 minutes. As you can imagine, you can buy a course of 10 with a discounted cost for £810 which is well-worth it when looking at making some more permanent skin-changing results.
