Beauty Review: Olaplex Treatment at The Chair
We stepped into The Chair for a luxurious Olaplex treatment. Like what you see? Let's go!
Why not give your hair the ultimate Christmas present this year with a luxurious Olaplex treatment at The Chair on your next appointment….
We may not be able to go OUT OUT but our hairdressers are back in our lives (hurrah) and we are sure that you have your next appointment booked but why not consider the latest new treatment at The Chair to give your hair that additional boost this Christmas!
As you may recall, The Chair is housed in a 16th Century building, formerly a bakery, with wooden beams and buckets of character and is situated on the King’s Mile so is in a stunning part of the city. It is headed up by the effervescent, Katie Hancock, who has been running The Chair for the past 18 years, and who has become quite the local celebrity as she re-opened the salon at midnight from Saturday 4th July in a bid to accommodate her persistent clients’ requests to get their hair done. This quickly became worldwide news with TV appearances on This Morning and a late-night visit from Washington Post to record her midnight opening and she continues to be a credible and well-known voice within the hair industry.
We’ve said this before but one of the winning factors about The Chair is its hugely friendly and fun team who not only know how to look after your untamed tresses, but they are always chirpy and full of good chat and no ‘going anywhere nice for your holiday?’ ‘cliché starters here. The additional beauty of The Chair (especially in a post Covid-19 world) is how much space they have including an outdoor terrace for the sunnier days, plus they recently transformed the upstairs beauty space into a boutique hotel vibe with the music to match. There is no panpipe or whale music here which I think really adds to the sophisticated scene and makes you feel immediately relaxed on arrival.
Let us give you the lowdown on what Olaplex can do for your hair. This product has rightly revolutionized the industry especially if you have coloured, processed or generally mistreated hair as it helps to rebuild the fibre in your locks. Olaplex contains a single patented ingredient called bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate (now doesn’t that just roll off the tongue) which hunts down your damaged hair bonds and repairs them. What a good sort that Olaplex is…
It is an express treatment that can be used on ANY hair type and as the lovely Luke from The Chair tells me, ‘Think of it as a reset button for your hair as it works through your hair and opens up and seals your hair cuticles.” Well if you do it for your nails on a regular basis, why not do it for your hair too?
You can do it before a cut or with a blow-dry and your stylist will chose the best Olaplex product for your hair and will then apply onto your hair which has been rinsed with warm water. You then need to simply sit still and relax for a good ten minutes (um, yes please) while it does its magic. It then gets rinsed off and your hair is washed with shampoo and conditioner (as normal with that oh so yummy head rub) before you have it cut or blow-dried – or both of course.
Hopefully the proof is in the pudding with the photos but it was quite unbelievable how silky and smooth my hair felt after the treatment and most importantly, CONTINUED to do so for the next two months so some long-lasting results. A definite one to consider if you have damaged hair and we know how easily that happen whether from colouring your hair or even just excessive blow-drying and curling over the years!
Olaplex treatment costs £17 which you can add onto your blow-dry (starting from £30) or your next cut and blow-dry (starting from £44).
