Any budding witches and wizards in your family will be eager to pack their rucksacks and head back to school to learn a range of new magical skills to show off to their peers. Practice magical potion making in a giant cauldron with the potions professor, learn how to cast fiendish spells, join in the broomstick flying lessons and attempt the broomstick assault course avoiding the troublesome obstacles along the way. There are plenty more spooky themed activities to get involved with including a Halloween choir sing-along, magical games and a spooky trail through the castle grounds scouting out clues to win a prize. Mini muddies are reminded to wear their best fancy dress costumes as the scariest outfit competition will take place at 2pm every day.

Flossie Pops Cakery is offering a fantastic Halloween workshop for your little ones to get busy whipping up some scarily scrummy cupcakes. At this spooky cookery class your mini bakers will be designing sugar paste toppers and decorating the cakes using buttercream icing. By the end of the session your children will be bringing home a box of 6 Halloween themed cupcakes (better loosen the belt buckle).

Penshurst Place has arranged a variety of Halloween celebrations to keep your little ones entertained during this half term. A daily pumpkin trail will lead your children around the gardens learning about the resident bats and spiders and from the 22nd daily creepy crafts will take place in the Old Coach House. The Wicked Witch will be looming around the grounds on the 24th– 28th and will lead you to the woods for a spooky story time while sipping hot chocolate by the crackling fire. On the 29th Hands on History will be back to offer an insight into the horrifying realities of medieval surgery and medicine. To finish off the Halloween festivities, spooky stories and a fancy dress parade will take place on the 30th.

Head to Groombridge Place for a completely creepy Halloween event inspired by fairy tales of the Grimm Brothers. An assortment of activities will be available for the whole family including ghostly boat rides, champagne bar, fire pits, street food and a beer tent. This sounds like the perfect event to round up the troops (children and adults) for a frightfully fun time.

Betteshanger is offering two separate Halloween trails suited for different levels of fearlessness. The daily Halloween Trail is perfect for children as they have the chance to follow the guardian of the woods, Tawny Owl and his friend Spider through the mysterious trails of the park. Pumpkin carving is also running daily for any littluns who want to create their own ghoulish pumpkin creation. The Terror Trail (28th-29th) is suitable for a more daring set of adventurers. As night falls upon Betteshanger can you spot what’s lurking in the shadows before it attacks? Can you make it to the end without being caught?

Hever Castle is offering an assortment of truly spooktacular activities to keep any hint of boredom at bay this half term. Head inside the castle for an assortment of activities including creepy crafts where your little ones will be making their own puppet, cupcake decorating and taking part in the Medieval Mysteries quiz. The Halloween Trail will also run throughout the day and will lead you through the castle gardens finding clues and collecting a treat at the end. Throw on your scariest costume to meet Hever’s resident Goblin at the Ghastly Goblin Shack as he tells you the folktales of goblins, trolls, witches and ghouls. There’s an award for the scariest costume so make sure you’re mini muddy are dressed to impress and look utterly terrifying.

There’s plenty going on at Kent Life that you and your little horrors will enjoy this half term holiday. Brave the snakes, spiders and scorpions in creepy cuddle corner, head on trick or treat adventures, take part in fancy dress competitions and try your hand at pumpkin carving and craft activities. You will also have the chance to head out on a creepy tractor ride to scout out the resident ghosts and monsters of the farm. Kent Life has also arranged the ‘Frights by Night’ event where the whole family can visit the farm as the day turns to night. Head to the train station in your best fancy dress for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and a terrifying train journey through the Kent countryside. Get involved in the great activities on offer during the afternoon including face painting, pumpkin modelling and hot snacks. Before the 6:30pm departure you’ll also have the chance to enjoy fantastic performances from fire breathers and music from Drumskullz. Your train journey will take you to Northiam station to finish the evening with a spectacular fireworks show before returning to Tenterden.

Tyland Barn is hosting a couple of Halloween inspired events that are both educational and crafty! Tuesday’s ‘Wild About Bats’ event is the perfect family day out to learn about bats and why they’re not as scary as often believed. Follow the spooky bat trail and take part in fun bat inspired arts and crafts. During Thursdays ‘Halloween Webs and Broomsticks’ event you’ll be using woodland craft techniques and natural materials to create a scary spider web and your very own broomstick, perfect for a witch inspired trick-or-treat costume.

Dreamland is hosting a spooktacular set of activities where the whole family can get into the Halloween spirit whilst enjoying the famous rides of the theme park. Head on a ghost hunt with Gus the Ghost, learn the Monster mash or join Teddy and Betty on a spooky adventure. If you’re feeling daring head to the Witches Mirror Maze or explore Festino’s Fun House. Head to Bedgbury Pinetum for a unique and magical theatrical experience as Angela Carter’s classic tale, The Company of Wolves is adapted into an immersive performance. The story will be performed throughout a three-mile trail through the Bedgbury forest with regular stops along the way. You’re little ones can immerse themselves in the classic story of the Gruffalo in the fun and interactive dance workshops available during the half term holiday. The sessions will include dancing, music, acting, makeup and storytelling.
