Shakespeare Week Quest, Leeds Castle, 20 – 26 Mar

Across the nation we’re about to celebrate Shakespeare Week (aimed at giving primary school children a great first encounter of the works of William S). And at Leeds Castle they’re joining in the fun with this timely quest to challenge your knowledge about the Bard. No, sorry, no Joseph Fiennes present this year – just couldn’t resist a chance to use this piccie with a chest:shirt ratio that even puts Simon Cowell in the shade.

Jon Richardson, The Assembly Hall Theatre, Sat 25 Mar

The hilariously self-depreciating, obsessive and angsty Jon Richardson is coming to Assembly Hall Theatres this weekend. He’s best known as team captain on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown – and if you’ve ever watched the show you’ll know that neurosis makes for good comedy.

The Magic Of Motown, Margate Winter Gardens, 25 Mar

Live on stage it is the music of the Temptations, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Richie, Martha Reeves, Isley Brothers *and breathe* – with scores more besides apparently. So slip your stilettos on and sing Diana-style with me now… ‘I’m coming out, I want the world to know, Got to let it show…’

Don’t hold your breath with Lucy Parker, Flow Yoga, Tunbridge Wells, Fri 24 Mar

If you’re a yoga convert and want to try something extra, or even if you’re not but suffer from anxiety then this workshop in Tunbridge Wells looks brilliant. It’s the first of Flow Yoga‘s Moving Deeper Sessions, This session is called Don’t Hold Your Breath and is all about breathing; the anatomy of breathing; how to breathe well; the link between breath and mood, and how conscious breathing can help lighten stress, anxiety and even depression. I have tried out Flow Yoga myself (read my review here) and can personally vouch for Lucy Parker’s expertise and loveliness.

Spring busy bees: children’s baking and making, Bore Place, Wed 5 Apr

Encourage the kids to get Muddy this Easter Half Term and book them in to enjoy a quirky fun packed, bee themed morning at Bore Place. First they’ll bake some sweet honey bee cookies (with honey from Bore Place bees), then make a beeswax candle, then explore the grounds on a springtime nature trail, flying by the beehives to say ‘thank-you’. Aw, if my mudlets were a tad younger this would be a great option to keep them out my hair *cough* I mean entertain them this Easter – craft and outdoor fun together.

Craig David, Rochester Castle Concert, Thurs 13 Jul

Re-e-wind when the crowd say bo selecta! Which makes *absolutely* no sense – but heck it’s just so darn catchy. Sixteen years after his debut album ‘Born to Do It’ reached Number one, Craig D is back at the top and he’s just been announced as the headlining act for this year’s Rochester Castle Concert. More acts to be revealed soon – tickets go on sale March 30 – and get snapped up fast. Tell me watcha gonna do? Re-e-wind.

Shepherd Neame have opened up a visitor centre where you can enjoy an 80-minute tour, a *hic* fascinating tutored tasting round the Brewery and a two-course home-cooked supper served in the Visitor Centre bar. Sounds good to me.

Naomi’s Wild & Scary, Orchard Theatre, Dartford, Sun 9 Apr

Oh, my kids love Naomi’s show on TV and now she’s following up on her success with a nation-wide tour. I’ve heard great things about this stage show – not least that it’s packed full of fun and surprises, live on stage, some really scary creatures, including a Carpet Python, Alligator Snapping Turtle, a giant centipede… and a tarantula! If your minis love nature, creepy crawlies and all creatures cool and scary (or not, depending on your viewpoint) then they will NOT want to miss this!
