Winner of Muddy Stilettos Best Boutique Stays in Kent, The Milk House is putting on ‘a full fat festival of food and music for all the family’. The fantastic four day event running throughout the August bank holiday will showcase the best food and drink from Kent producers with wonderful entertainment from talented local musicians. Organisers have tipped this event as ‘a feel good feast of fun for the whole family’ as it has something for everyone including cocktails, BBQ, face painting, bouncy castle and theatre. The Milk House will also be selling their popular Kentish bitter the Full Fat Festival Top on tap for £3 a pint. What’s not to love? If you have a spare day this weekend head over to this event that will definitely get you in the party spirit.

Betteshanger Wild Weekend, Betteshanger Country Park, Deal, Sat 27 Aug – Mon 29 Aug

Enjoy some wild activities, hands on workshops and guided trails exploring Betteshanger Country Park this bank holiday weekend. Brush up on your practical skills in nature inspired workshops on offer including the Wild Cooking Workshop or the Woodland Craft Workshop. The adventures don’t end there, activities running throughout the weekend also include den building in the woods, owl pellet dissection, fossil hunting and birds of prey display.

Monty Python’s Spamalot, Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, Fri 26 Aug – Sat 3 Sep

Spamalot is an award winning musical adapted from the 1975 classic comedy film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This almost new musical tells the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and features cows, killer rabbits and French People. An unusual mixture of cameos but if you’re a fan of the classic Monty Python tongue in cheek comedy it’s definitely worth a watch.

Moonlight Maze Night, Quex Park Estate, Birchington, Sat 27 Aug

Grab your head torches and get ready for a fun evening exploring the Maize Maze as the sun goes down. Commencing at 7pm, entertainment will include some great live music and giant inflatables. Refreshment will also be provided in the form of a tasty hog roast and beer tent. This sounds like a fun sociable occasion for adults and an exciting adventure for the mini muddies. Local and Live, Tunbridge Wells, Fri 26 Aug – Mon 29 Aug


From acoustic lovers to head bangers, there’s something for every music fan this bank holiday weekend in Tunbridge Wells. Over 100 talented musicians will be showcasing their material in some great venues across the town – could there be a new rising star in our very own Kent? The venues hosting music will be The Forum, The Sussex, The Grey Lady and The Royal Oak, so there are plenty of places to discover some great local talent. Don’t miss out music lovers!

Entry to the festival venues is £8 per venue per day, Forum Garden Stage (£5 per day), the Royal Oak (£5 donation encouraged), or the Golden Wristband is available that offers access to every venues throughout the weekend (£20),

Hythe Life Food Festival, The Grove, Hythe, Sun 28 Aug – Mon 29 Aug


Calling all foodies! Hythe Life will be welcoming you to a fabulous two day food festival offering mouth watering local grub that is sustainably sourced and suitably tasty. Get your sugar or savoury fix from the diverse food traders that’ll be offering the best artisan and street food delights and don’t forget to wash it all done with some fantastic cocktails, beer or wine (all locally sourced). Recipe demonstrations from some of Kent’s best chefs will run throughout the weekend as well as some great musical entertainment and fun mini workshops for the mini muddies. This sounds like a fantastic event celebrating all things foodie, although you may need to loosen a belt buckle on departure.

My mini muddies love the Jim Carrey film version so will definitely try and take them to this production – watch out for my review on opening night! Painter and decorator by day, Mr Popper spends his time dreaming of Antarctic adventures. He is astounded when one day a packing crate arrives on his doorstep, out of which waddles a penguin!

Sue Perkins has brought some comedy gold to Great British Bake Off with her double act presenting partner Mel – soggy bottom anyone? She’s now hitting the stage with a fabulously funny stand up performance where she’ll be telling some great stories and offering the best bits from her new best selling memoir, Spectacles.
