Muddy says: A play centre with a difference, Little Street is the perfect way for little people to experience the wonders of the world – all scaled down to their size.
OMG – kids these days are so lucky and all that – take a look at this for an amazing day out. At Little Street play centres children can literally drive around the streets in a miniature vehicle, go shopping in at the supermarket or meet their friends in the café. There’s a construction site for budding builders, and a medical centre where the vets and doctors of tomorrow can play out their roles. And for little pop stars and actors, there’s a theatre in which to perfect their performances. There is also a large air ambulance helicopter where children can be both pilot and medic. Too. Much. Fun.
Little Street has a centre in Maidstone (and Frimley and West Byfleet in Surrey), each offering something slightly different with a variety of themed rooms. We all know our little mudlets love to play make believe and I can’t imagine a better place for supporting and awakening their imagination than this. The variety of themed rooms are scaled down to be the perfect size for little people, and carefully designed and filled with props to offer a creative and educational play experience.
The play town at Maidstone features a café, theatre, medical centre, supermarket, construction site, school, and police station. Within the road area there are lots of ride on vehicles, and a large fire engine for aspiring young firefighters. There is a post office with delivery points around the town, as well as a stable area with horses.
The centres are keen to offer high quality experience so operate pre-defined play sessions and keep the numbers attending ‘little’ (so try and book in advance). At the end of each play period they even take the time and care to restore Little Street back to its original state so that the next group of children will enjoy the ‘wow’ factor; every prop will be returned to the right place to stimulate their curiosity and inventiveness.
And of course for the grown ups, Little Street has a cafe bar selling hot and cold drinks, delicious cakes and healthy snacks. It’s almost enough to make me want to turn back the clock so my little ones are at this stage again, just so I can take them along. Almost.
