Festive Fashion: SORTED!

Personal stylist's edit of the best partywear, featuring twinkly little numbers from your high street faves...

Party season is upon us and just in case you, like me, have been so busy that you still haven’t even worked out what to wear to the dozen or so events on your hectic horizon, we’ve come up with some fast-track fashion advice! We asked brilliant local Personal Stylist, Sarah Gillmore, for her edit of the best partywear, featuring twinkly little numbers from your high street faves.
Jump to it!
For cool, edgy dressing, I’d recommend a jumpsuit if you don’t just want to go down the usual Christmas party dress route. Go for velvet which is in abundance this year and even better if it adds to the whole 70’s nostalgia thing – with wide trouser legs, like this slinky Misty jumpsuit, available from Kitch Clothing, £119.
Festive faux fur
If you want to switch it up to a more urban look go for a cosy faux-fur coat or short jacket in one of the many colourful hues out this season – think blue, emerald
green, pink or red. This H&M one is a pretty, vintagey shade of blue and a total bargain at £49.99 or this Forest Green Faux Fur Jacket from Landsend, £160 (reduced price).
She’s electric
Speaking of colour, there’s plenty on jumpers which offer a bit more – and they don’t have to have a flashing reindeer nose or musical button on them to be festive! Go for statement sleeves or frills or a vibrant colour. Red is the shade of the season, like this Bowie Sweater from, £195, So if you feel the cold but still want to make a statement, this is a good option.

Let it shine!

Sometimes you’ve gotta go big or go home – and you’re not going home, love, I’ve just ordered another round of cocktails. And if you really want to razzle-dazzle it’s all about metallics and sequins, like this gold sequin dress from Warehouse, £44.25 (reduced price). If your festive style is more low-key than Christmas tree, can I introduce you to this disco cardigan. A disco cardigan – yes, really. Cardigans are very much back (see Gucci for details) and you can even wear them on the dancefloor. This Monsoon black one, £45 (reduced price) with a smattering of silver sequins will warm up a skimpy dress or work with a camisole, jeans and ankle boots for a more casual do.
