Gotta Have It

Forget Terry's Chocolate Orange! All I want for Christmas is a Caramel Alabaster Egg - loved by Royalty and film-stars alike dontcha know...

What do Royalty and film stars alike put on their Christmas list? This beautiful piece of contemporary sculpture that’s what. It’s one of only 10 in existence, created by award-winning artist Stephanie Carlton Smith. The minimalist monochrome eggs stand at roughly 10cm tall and are hand carved from alabaster, a luminous stone that sculptors have been using for donkeys years apparently.

Revealed inside the egg is a single precious unique glass form, all hand crafted and polished by renowned London based artist, Stephanie. How do I know this? Because a friend who knows a whooooole lot more about art than I do told me that these pieces have built a reputation as the modern day Fabergé egg (that famous ultimate luxurious gift) and so have not surprisingly gained quite a cult following – admired and purchased by a wide range of people from Royalty to film stars. And they are now exclusively available through Kent’s very own gallery BEUMEE Contemporary Fine Art in Tunbridge Wells.

There are only 10 limited edition eggs available this Christmas; four have been made in caramel veined alabaster, four in white veined alabaster and two in soft grey and cost a mere £1,000. So all I can say is better get in their quick Mr Muddy and snaffle one for my stocking please! Replace my Terry’s Chocolate Orange with a Caramel Alabaster Egg? Sure, ‘course he will! *Snort!*
