Amchella Events & Sleepovers

In need of inspiration for your next party? Then look no further than Amchella Events and Sleepovers who will make sure that your kids (and even the inner child lurking in you) will have a night to remember!

My three year old’s 4th birthday was fast approaching and truth be told, I am totally hopeless about children’s birthday parties and am still slightly haunted by my older son hissing at me last year, ‘When is the Entertainer getting here?’, as I attempted to bounce my way around the room, encouraging some sceptical five year olds to get down to musical bumps. Needless to say, there was no entertainer nor theme, so I simply threw a lot of sugar at the situation.

But this year it would be different, I promised myself, as I considered what could possibly entertain eight little girls, with a penchant for pink and anything that might vaguely sparkle. And this year’s trump card was Amchella Events and Sleepovers who are THE company to consult in Kent if you are looking to host a sleepover party at home for your offspring. With twenty-eight utterly gorgeous party themes to choose from (or you can ask them to do a bespoke theme if your child has a special request), I was all over them like a three-year-old girl with a glitter glue gun.

Sleepover party for eight four-year old girls? Are you totally bonkers, I hear you say? Well that is the beauty of it – as well as the sleepover parties, they also do luxe picnic parties for the younger lot or if you are having a big bash or a wedding and want a cool-looking kiddie area.

Amchella Events & Sleepovers was created by Karen Willand who has three children, so she knows a few things about kids and parties and created the business as she remembers how much fun it was to have sleepovers as a child and wanted to re-create some of that magic for her children. Quickly she amassed a wonderful array of props and items for the ultimate sleepover (and general party vibe) as well as the vital know-how to help other parents do the same for their children and thus Amchella Events and Sleepovers was born! And thank heavens for me that it was…

Let’s just say that my soon to be four year old is ‘independent’ or ‘strong willed’ to put it nicely and therefore there was no budging on her request for a butterfly themed party which thankfully was well within Karen’s remit. After our briefing call, Karen quickly sent me lots of pictures of the butterfly props that she had and could source so you are on board with her ideas and design ahead of the day.

The briefing call is also important for Karen to assess the size of your party space, to make sure that she brings the appropriately sized tent. You could either host it outside or clear a room inside which is what we did as the party was in October, so we were wary of the weather pissing on our parade.

What was also music to my ears was that Karen can also put together a pass the parcel game for you, according to the theme of the party, and even better – it is contained in a lucky dip box meaning it takes children that little bit longer to dig out the prize and is more fun for them too. Plus, the box can be re-used again and again meaning less waste of wrapping paper which is better for our planet.

Another optional extra is the party disco lights which I can heartily recommend as they add a whole new dimension to the space and give a little extra to the room when it comes to musical bumps, statues or any other games that you have lined up.

Now all that was left for me to do was arrange a couple of games that could fit in with the theme – I ended up getting some butterfly masks and colouring pens alongside a butterfly necklace making kit which kept their little hands and minds occupied for 30 minutes, and my husband became a Butterfly temporary tattoo artist for the afternoon. The girls were also very happy to play in the tent and of course, the obligatory musical bumps/statues/pass the parcel was also done with Disney Princess songs at full pelt.

Plus, you then have the perfect picnic setting for their party meal and our lot were happily ensconced in their own little butterfly bubble!

Let’s talk sleepovers – and I am all ears for when I am ready for that next stage. They deliver all the equipment – the sleepover tents, beds, bedding, accessories and decorations – plus they will make sure the birthday child has an extra special set up and gift to ensure they have a night to remember. And when we say accessories and decorations, we are talking a HUGE range of props to make the party go off with a bang.

We’re talking pamper kits, creative sets, midnight feast boxes, pass the parcel, karaoke disco machines, disco lights, a selfie frame with photo props or chair covers with diamanté sashes and that’s just the starting point. They simply deliver and set up on the afternoon of your party and collect the following morning. All you need to do is source some ear plugs to drown out the mass giggling in the next-door room.

And don’t worry about scrabbling around for enough bed linen, as they provide EVERYTHING. Your kids can choose from indoor teepees, A frame or Bestie tent for two that come with lacy or plain cream fabrics or an outdoor bell tent if it’s the summer, plus memory foam mattresses, all the bedding (sheets, pillowcases and blankets), pillows, fairy lights and lanterns, cushions, themed accessories and decorations, hot water bottles, sleep masks and water bottles. I want to hit the hay just thinking about it all.

But why let the younger lot have all the fun? Karen tells me that they often arrange sleepover parties for hen do’s, girlie pamper nights and they have also recently launched the fabulous ‘Belle’ tent which can be used in your garden for the ‘Ultimate Glamp Out’ experience for you and the kids or why not take it over as an alternative Date Night for two?

I was also highly impressed by how quickly Karen assembles everything in your house so you can easily distract your birthday child and then give them the ‘wow’ moment when they re-enter their birthday space plus the vast array of parties that Karen can put on – for all age groups and interests. That weekend alone of the butterfly party, Karen had also laid on six other parties including Football, Gold, Vintage, Sports, Rainbow and Mermaids. They have also just launched some new themes – Jungle Fever, Bochella (boho festival themed bell tent), LOL Dolls, Club Tropicana, Under the Sea so there really is something for everyone.

Picnic party for 8 girls (large lace tent, low level table with place settings for 8) – £184

Add on disco lights and parcel the parcel: £54

Sleepover party includes the tents, hypoallergenic memory foam mattresses, sheets, covers, pillows & pillow cases, cushions, fairy lights, tray tables, lanterns, sleep masks, hot water bottles and themed decorations, plus a few special touches to the tent of the Birthday Child – £40 per child

Good For: Would suit wide age range of children – boys and girls – from age 3 and upwards and good for parents who are looking for something a little bit different when it comes to putting on a party and are getting weary of soft play and the like.

Not For: Those who prefer to host a party off premises for fear of the morning-after mayhem but in that case, get the bell tent and let them in the morning!
