Dover College, Dover

A small, nurturing school rich in tradition but with modern ambitions and currently undergoing a huge investment in facilities and teaching. We think Dover College is definitely one to watch! Wally Hall, Sevenoaks

Walthamstow Hall (or Wally Hall as it is most often referred to) is one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country – read the Muddy review here. Holmewood House, Langton Green

A co-educational, non-selective school for boys and girls aged 3-13 years, of just under 500 pupils, situated in 30 acres of glorious grounds in Langton Green just outside of Tunbridge Wells. St Lawrence College, Ramsgate

A supportive and caring co-educational school, which can look after your children from start to finish as it is a non-selective school welcoming pupils from the age of 3 in Nursery right through to the 18 year olds in Year 12. Situated in the seaside town of Ramsgate, this is a school whose aim is to make a difference to your child’s life, and has all the facilities and expertise in order do that!

Rose Hill, Tunbridge Wells

Bang in the centre of T.Wells, it’s got great outdoor facilities, the green spaces of a country school! It’s perfect if you are commuting into London or if you already live in Tunbridge Wells. Kent College, Canterbury

Kent College, Pembury

Read our updated review of this all-girls Senior School that boasts impressive ‘Value Added’ academic success, plus a strong extra-curricular and pastoral offering – while achieving excellent academic results too. St Edmund’s, Canterbury

An excellent co-educational school where creativity is a big part of its DNA, St Edmund’s will help your child develop the skills to be innovative and intellectually accomplished with a genuine joy of learning. Dulwich Prep, Cranbrook

Three years after my first visit this popular rural prep goes back under the Muddy microscope… So what did I find? Dulwich Prep Cranbrook is a rural prep school located in (you guessed it!) Cranbrook. The school sits in 50 acres of beautiful Kent countryside and it’s been cleverly designed to actually function as three smaller schools in one, allowing each child to be known and looked after individually. Go see for yourself at their Open Morning Week from Mon 4 – Fri 8 Oct. The Headmaster and staff will be available for a chat followed by tours of the school. Book your place now.

St Michael’s, Sevenoaks

Set in a stunning 90 acre site of woodland this idyllic co-ed prep school is a really strong all-rounder. I was really impressed with what I found – a truly impressive school. Fancy a look around? Don’t take our word for it! They will be holding an Open Morning on Tues 5 Oct from 8:45 – 11:30am. Experience life at St Michael’s; enjoy a tour of the Pre-Prep and Prep buildings, as well as seeing some of their exciting lessons take place. Hilden Grange School, Tonbridge

Want the convenience of a town-based school, but without compromising on the sports and facilities? Solefield School, Sevenoaks

Small but perfectly formed, this non-selective prep school for boys in well-heeled Sevenoaks puts pastoral care and happiness at the top of the agenda. Marlborough House School, Hawkhurst

An all-round prep school in Hawkhurst, where the focus is on nurture and a high standard of teaching – oh and they’re developing their facilities too! The next Open Morning is on Fri 8 Oct, where you will have the opportunity to see the school in action, meet the new Headmaster Mr Eddy Newton, and see for yourself what makes Marlborough House so special.

Spring Grove, Wye

An independent school looking after children from 2- 11, positioned just outside the pretty village of Wye. This is a school that is very proud of its ‘family’ atmosphere with an emphasis on the importance of trying and a very inclusive nature when it comes to sport, music and drama. Somerhill, Tonbridge

Want the best of both worlds? Co-education and single-sex schooling meets in harmony here under one community. Somerhill has been under the Muddy microscope, read the review here. Fosse Bank, Hildenborough

Small, hidden-gem of an independent prep school for boys and girls, sitting on the edge of Hildenborough. With only 100 pupils and 28 acres of gorgeous grounds, it has probably the best ratio of facility per child. Babington House, Chislehurst

This independent, co-ed, day school in Chislehurst – for pupils from 3 to 18 years – is a rising star. Ranked Top Small Independent School in the UK, for A Level results – the academics here are strong – and the size means everyone gets their chance to shine. Junior King’s, Canterbury

A well-established day and boarding prep school for boys and girls. Rich in history yet awash with up-to-date facilities and innovative teaching. Rochester Independent College, Rochester

A progressive, mixed private school in the heart of Rochester, with just 332 kids (11-18 years) and boarding provision for 15 year-olds and above. Genuinely offering something completely different to any other school we’ve reviewed here in Kent, always refreshing! R.I.C. started as a Sixth Form College and retake course specialist and then grew down to intake from Y7. It feels very much more like a university campus than most schools – albeit a very cosy, caring one.

Ashford School, Ashford

Those looking for endless space and opportunities, and a large emphasis on mental health and wellbeing, Ashford School in the rural village of Great Chart should be on your list – see the Muddy review of the Prep school here.
