Barre is the exercise buzz word of the moment and the workout trend that boomed during lockdown. Loved by A-listers from Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba to Olivia Palermo. Yes, we’ll have a body like them please, where do we sign?

Qualified Barre teacher and level 3 personal trainer, Tara aka Barre by Tara runs Barre classes – normally in person, but currently online. If you’re new to barre it’s a combination of yoga, Pilates and ballet (hence the barre bit) with a focus on strengthening and lengthening your body. Fab for toning and building lean muscle. And better yet, first taster session is FREE!

Originally from New Orleans, USA, Tara’s love for music and dance started with ballet school as a young girl as well as cheerleading combined with dance team at high school and college. Having moved to London in 2001, Tara pursued a career in PR before raising her two girls in Herne Hill, where she lived with her family until recently moving to Kent.

Keeping fit and staying active has been a longstanding part of her lifestyle and in Barre, Tara believes she has found her true fitness passion, with its combination of dance, choreography and music providing the perfect mixture of enjoyable physical and mental challenge while bringing outstanding fitness results.

Tara’s drop-in barre classes are £7 for a 45mins. She also offers private sessions of barre or personal training.

If you fancy a pulse raiser, Tara also does 30min HIIT sessions (£5 per class) or 45min sessions of HIIT combined with strengthening (£7 per class).
