Goupie

Muddy says: Goupie is a devilishly moreish confectionery product, hand-made to a genuine family recipe in Kent. The back story is the kind we love at Muddy.

Goupie is a devilishly moreish confectionery product, hand-made to a genuine family recipe in Kent. The back story is the kind we love at Muddy.

This choccie-making company was created by husband and wife team, Joe and Janet, who met over 30 years ago and the business is now run by mother-daughter duo, Janet and Grace. But the original recipe came from grandma Noble (Shirley), Janet’s mother. Nothing like keeping it in the family!

Shirley’s original recipe can still be found in her hand-written cookbook, though it’s carefully locked away at Goupie HQ, so no luck in making your own – you cheeky thing!

The chocolate has a distinct chewy soft texture, with a little bit of bite – and we can testify they are delicious.

The eggs are small and perfectly formed. Or there’s the perfectly gift-able, gorgeous-looking diddy chocolate boxes. All put together in rural Kent, Goudhurst to be precise, and Goupie currently has 13 vegan flavours and 7 gluten-free.

Flavours include Mint (Muddy fave), Orange, Salted Sticky Toffee, Lavender and White Chocolate and many, many more.

Better still, where possible, they source locally. For example, the lavender in their white and dark lavender flavours, comes from the Hop Shop (Faversham), the coffee in their Espresso comes from Micro Roastary (Canterbury), the cider in their Boozy Christmas, from Biddenden Vineyards and the salt flakes on their Salted Sticky Toffee from Maldon. Muddy loves, loves, loves.

No need to thank us, just send half a dozen hampers laden with chocolate goodies to Muddy Kent Towers. Wet wipes at the ready!
