Weekend Escapes

You can always rely on Muddy Stilettos for passing on the best-kept secrets in Kent and Mocketts Farm Cottages in the hamlet of Harty happens to be our latest go-to destination in Kent. You will find Mocketts Farm Cottages on the Isle of Sheppey separated by a causeway and accessed by a road crossing which is how it gets its unique reputation as an isle within an island.

What we love about a stay in one of their five holiday cottages is that you’re in the perfect spot to explore some of Kent’s most captivating towns and cities. Plus, you will find that London is just 60 minutes away yet you are still surrounded by rolling farmland, countryside and the waters of the Swale Estuary. If you are looking for some proper time-out, we suggest you take a long hard look at this place!

The additional plus point is that beaches, beautiful country walks, cycling and an abundance of wildlife are all on your doorstep! Bird lovers ‘flock’ here, thanks to the perfect setting by one of the largest wetland bird reserves in Europe, which also extends on to Harty.

Mocketts Farm Cottages ticks a lot of boxes – whether it’s a romantic couple’s escape, a back-to-nature family break or the stunning setting for that large group getaway, you have everything on the wish list for comfort and practicality, including disabled and pet-friendly accommodation.

We recommend unwinding in the homely, natural simplicity of these beautifully converted barn and farm buildings and you have a choice of five traditional cottages owned and overseen by the Burden family. And if you don’t fancy doing the cooking but do fancy some TLC, you might like to know about their other highly successful and gorgeous local venue – The Ferry House restaurant, country B&B and Treatment Rooms – is just five minutes up the road from The Mockett Farm Holiday Cottages.
