The Red Lion Stodmarsh
Muddy says: Ticks all the boxes for a quintessential English pub – all year round – with tip top food and stunning rooms to match
The Red Lion in Stodmarsh has been a familiar staple in Kent for many many years and in February 2018, the baton was handed over Morgan, Mark, Angie and Justin who have been working hard to restore this wonderful pub to its former glory.
And it really ticks all of the boxes for the quintessential English pub. It’s one of Muddy’s preferred spots during the summer as the extensive beer garden blends seamlessly into the English countryside so you can enjoy good food and good view simultaneously. Plus the kids are well catered for too – hurrah….!
But if that’s kind of Winter Warmer pub that you are after for when the colder days and nights set in, then The Red Lion could also be the one for you. The menu is changed regularly to reflect the seasons so you can expect hearty fayre, executed beautifully and with a contemporary twist, plus log fires burning to ensure that you really will find it impossible to leave.
If you do want to have permament lock-in, then help is at hand as the team have refurbished rooms upstairs to a beautiful standard so you can make a weekend of it, particularly with Stodmarsh Nature Reserve within walking distance so you can work off your dinner and then just set your mode to copy and paste for the next few days.
Last and by no means last, the team are a super friendly bunch with a fun bunch of events lined up throughout the year – think bat and trap, quiz nights and beer and cider festivals but all done with a contemporary feel and verrrrrrrrrrrrrry good food. Race you to the bar….!
