This brilliant little restaurant is set up in what was a disused pub in Boughton Monchelsea, so south of Maidstone and just north of Sutton Valence.

The immediate surrounds are quite suburban – basically it’s off the beaten track and the kind of place that you’d never stumble across unless you’d heard about it from word-of-mouth. Oh, we likey.

From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole, step through the door and you’ll find something magical – a really buzzing place that won Best Restaurant in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2017 (as voted by you).

Run by sisters Lesley and chef Nicole (also known as Pixie) who has cooked for Richard Branson, this is tasty wholesome, unfussy food at its best. They both trained in Cape Town at Silwood School of Cookery, Le Cordon Bleu. Growing up in Botswana, travelling and working around the world enabled them to bring together all their skills and ideas to create their own eatery.

Planning an Intimate Wedding? The Curious Eatery might just be for you! Plan a beautiful intimate ceremony with a socially distant outdoor picnic. Read their mention in Festival Brides here.

They have an incredible team of people, their Chef Ollie was a Junior Sous Chef at Tom Kerridge’s restaurant ‘The Hand & Flowers’ – that is very good pedigree! All the food is freshly prepared daily and oh-so-tasty. If we couldn’t love it anymore, there’s a cute little shop upstairs for you to mooch around in between courses!

With a lunch and dinner menu, including a brand new pizza oven and downstairs bar area! The Curious Eatery is also open for tea and cake (their hand-made cakes are delicious!) with breakfast being served on Fridays and Saturdays, Sunday Roasts and local ales, ciders and wine all on hand.

If it’s sunny or the kids want to stretch their legs you can have a drink in the small but perfectly formed garden. Oh, and you’ll definitely want to join in with their Secret Supper Clubs… (Follow them on Facebook and keep your eye out – they book up fast!). This is definitely our kind of place.
