The Curious Eatery
Muddy says: The Curious Eatery is a fun, friendly, whimsical and quirky place to visit. Think rustic decor, a friendly atmosphere and fresh, vibrant food.
This brilliant little restaurant is set up in what was a disused pub in Boughton Monchelsea, so south of Maidstone and just north of Sutton Valence.
The immediate surrounds are quite suburban – basically it’s off the beaten track and the kind of place that you’d never stumble across unless you’d heard about it from word-of-mouth. Oh, we likey.
From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole, step through the door and you’ll find something magical – a really buzzing place that won Best Restaurant in the Muddy Stilettos Awards 2017 (as voted by you).
Run by sisters Lesley and chef Nicole (also known as Pixie) who has cooked for Richard Branson, this is tasty wholesome, unfussy food at its best. Even better – there’s hand-made cakes and, (could we love it any more?) a cute little shop upstairs for you to mooch around in between courses!
With a lunch and dinner menu, The Curious Eatery is also open for tea and cake with breakfast being served on Fridays and Saturdays, Sunday Roasts and local ales, ciders and wine all on hand. All the food is freshly prepared daily and oh-so-tasty.
If it’s sunny or the kids want to stretch their legs you can have a drink in the small but perfectly formed garden. Oh, and you’ll definitely want to join in with their Secret Supper Clubs… (Follow them on Facebook and keep your eye out – they book up fast!). This is definitely our kind of place.
