If you are looking for serious food in a relaxed, happy setting, look no further than the The Phoenix Tavern in the historic market town of Faversham. Nestled in the heart of picturesque Abbey Street, this smart pub is the perfect spot for a delicious lunch with friends, a business lunch or an intimate dinner a deux.

THE VIBE

This beautifully restored building with beams and character galore, is run by husband and wife team Adrian Atkins and Kim Sharrock. There are cosy nooks, a fireplace and a lovely walled garden with undercover and heated tables (you had us at walled garden!).

The pub is also dog friendly – they are welcome in a designated indoor space and in the walled garden. If you are looking for a special venue then The Phoenix Tavern can also be privately hired and event management is available.

THE FOOD

Head Chef Scott Pendry and his team have created a delicious menu of regularly changing, freshly cooked local food. Word on the street is that Scott’s impressive credentials include time working at Gordon Ramsay and Fordwich Arms. It is no wonder The Phoenix Tavern has fast become Faversham’s foodie favourite.

We like the sound of the pan roasted rump of Kentish lamb served with Jerusalem artichoke, purple sprouting broccoli, anchovy and hollandaise or baked lemon sole, romanesco, broccoli, baby turnip, sea herbs and sorrel emulsion.

The dessert menu isn’t too shabby either, what about salted caramel panna cotta, hazelnut, honeycomb and chocolate oreo? Finally, wash your meal down with one of the carefully selected drinks including fine wines, premium beers, and cocktails.

The Phoenix Tavern is definitely worth a visit. Why not make a day of it and spend some time exploring the up and coming town of Faversham and the nearby beautiful Standard Quay, on the creek. The Phoenix Tavern is just a short 5-10 minute walk to Faversham Station (on the main railway line from London to Canterbury).
