The Pumproom at Copper Rivet Distillery

With river views and Kentish cocktails, the Pumproom @ Copper Rivet Distillery is a great venue for romantic fine dining or tapas with friends.

Weekend Escapes

We are excited to discover The Pumproom @ Copper Rivet Distillery. Set in the historic Pumphouse built in 1873 with breath-taking views over the River Medway, think exposed bricks, sophisticated cocktails with a Kentish twist and divine fine dining!

Bob Russell and sons Matthew and Stephen (with the help of general manager Dominique Schefferlie) are the team behind the very successful Distillery. They have now created a relaxed fine dining and tapas experience at this stunning venue.

The large indoor dining room provides an uber cool setting with its’ high ceilings and industrial interiors. We also love the al fresco terrace, for balmy summer dining and views of Upnor Castle and the River Medway. Chef Will Freeman and his team have created a delicious menu.

Taking into consideration the ethos of the distillery, there is an emphasis on provenance, using seasonal ingredients and minimising waste. The menu is a contemporary take on classic dishes – and seasonal.

There is a mouth-watering dessert selection and an expertly curated wine menu.

We love the large cocktail bar, tapas lounge and waterfront terrace. This is a more relaxed setting where tapas is served all day (we recommend the tempura cauliflower).

Naturally with Kent’s only spirit making distillery next door, the cocktails here are pretty special! Spirits are all made with varieties of grain specified by the head distiller and grown by farming partners at Rydes Farm, Eastchurch and the Isle of Sheppey.

Think cocktails with a Kentish twist (and the bonus is that all spirits here are 100% natural, with no added sugar, colourants or additives). There is a great signature cocktail menu – try Cooper’s Julep (with Masthouse whisky, pear liqueur, ginger and mint) or Janet’s Fizz (with dockyard gin, lemon, egg white, cream and blood orange soda).

There are also classic cocktails, non-alchoholic options and a range of local beers, ales and ciders on tap and bottle.

Definitely one to visit – fine dining, industrial interiors, tapas and cocktails. All with a Kentish twist overlooking the River Medway. What’s not to love?
