TW Wine Cellar

Muddy says: The Wine Cellar is in buzzy Central Market in Tunbridge Wells. Visit with friends to discover new wines in a fabulous, fun setting!

The Wine Cellar is an exciting new bar in buzzy Central Market in Tunbridge Wells. With over 200 plus wines to try (we’ll do our very best) every bottle is available by the glass.  The energetic all girl team behind this venture are open to the unorthodox concept of opening any bottles on their shelves, none are off limits!

The General Manager spent two years in Australia studying and working with wine and has a knowledgeable team who are happy to give out samples, talk you through wines, recommending their gems as well as matching the guest’s palette. Current favourites are Biferno Rosso and their Greek red Thymiopolous Xinomavro. There are also wine flights planned (these consist of 3 x 50ml servings of white/sparkling, rose/orange, red for £8).

This isn’t a straightforward wine bar. There are plenty of old world wines as well as exciting new world wines to try, for example ‘Orange’ wine. Try forgotten classics, the 80’s fave Lambrusco available by the glass, homemade mulled wine and a festive white sangria’ – dry white wine (usually Chardonnay) with pear liquor, ginger beer and rosemary, star anise and cranberries.

And if that’s really whet your whistle, you’ll want to keep a track of their fantastic wine tastings and events planned. These include wine and chocolate pairings (what’s not to love?), collaborations with Goupie chocolate and an Absolutely Fabulous night where you can sample Veuve champagne and plenty of Edina and Patsy’s favourites (count us in, Sweetie!).
For designated drivers (someone is going to need to get us home!) there’s also plenty on offer too. Try Lemon-Aid + soft drinks (5p of every drink sold is donated to fair-trade). These are yummy sounding low sugar, vegan lemonades, passion fruit, lime and blood orange drinks. There is also locally sourced bread and charcuterie and cheese imported from Italy.
We also love The Central Market new concept that any food or drink you buy in the market can be consumed in any of the stores. So if you fancy bringing in a cheeky gin and tonic or some food with you this is fine.
New Year’s Eve promises to be fun with an ABBA themed party that finishes at 2am and Colin Firth (of the cardboard cut out variety!) will be making an appearance. We are digging out our flares.
A wine bar with so much more to offer. We can’t wait to join the fun!
