18 cracking Christmas wreath workshops

Deck your door with boughs of holly! These local festive craft classes are hugely popular so, quick, book now!

What is it about the unstoppable rise of Christmas wreath-making? My village goes absolutely mad for them with almost every door adorned with festive foliage by mid-November.

If you fancy having a crack at creating your own, we aren’t short on workshops in Kent with lots springing up over the next few weeks (some come with free festive tipple btw). But be quick to book as tickets are selling like hot mince pies. Secateurs at the ready, let’s go!

The Barnyard, Sittingbourne, Fri 8 Nov – Sat 14 Dec

Enjoy a fresh Christmas Wreath Workshop at The Barnyard this festive season! Organised and carried out by the very talented Sandy, who is the owner of ‘The Giggleberry Tree’ gift shop. For further details contact Sandy directly: 07952 011522. £40 pp including all the materials, coffee and cake. 

Sue Davies Flowers & Gardens, Sutton Valence, Sat 9 Nov – Weds 18 Dec

It is that time of year again! Brilliant Sutton Valence florist, Sue Davies, is running a number of fresh foliage and artificial Christmas decoration workshops, she will be on hand to guide you through creating your individual piece. Workshops from £40 pp (artificial workshops have an extra charge of £20), includes basic sundries and refreshments.

Millbrook Garden Centre, 19 Nov – 18 Dec

Millbrook’s brilliant in-house team, a brilliant team of local florists and horticultural experts will be leading workshops this year so you can proudly hang your creations on your front door or give as gifts this Christmas. They’ve got a whole host of workshops such as Gift Wrapping, Papercutting Card, Festive Centerpiece, Christmas Terrarium, Willow Wreath and Traditional Wreath Workshops across their Garden Centres in Crowborough, Staplehurst and Gravesend. So there’s something for everyone! Tickets costs £45pp including all materials and seasonal refreshments.

West Malling Flowers, 20 Nov – 10 Dec

West Malling Flowers are delivery a whole host of workshops this Winter period! Create an Elegant Door Wreath or why don’t you try their Christmas Demonstration evenings? Wow the family this Christmas! Workshop tickets are £45 pp including all your materials and refreshments.

The Bloom Foundry, Tunbridge Wells, 29 Nov – 19 Dec

Make a stunning Christmas wreath at The Bloom Foundry this Christmas. Enjoy a 3 hour session creating and producing a unique festive wreath whilst enjoying a mince pie. Ticket price includes the base, foliage, a bow and 5 decorative items for your wreath. There are day and evening workshops throughout December which are £30 pp. 

Ightham Mote, Mon 2 & Thurs 12 Dec

Floral designer Wendy Andrade is leading a workshop at Ightham Mote this December. Wendy was 1 of 10 designers nominated to decorate the Kodak theatre for the Oscars in LA and the Rose Bowl tournament and Schaffer Designs. So get loads of hands on help from Wendy and take your wreath home to display! There’s even a Christmas Table Decoration Workshop on 12 Dec. The workshop includes the materials, tea, coffee and lunch with a choice or homemade vegetable soup or sandwiches (even cake!). 11am – 3pm. Tickets are £68 pp. 

Sissinghurst Flowers, 3, 5 & 10 Dec

Spend a morning or afternoon Christmas Wreath making at Sissinghurst Flowers run by local lady Ali in her workshop, The Shed. She’ll show you to how to arrange a bespoke Christmas wreath, provide you with all the materials and even supply the mince pies! Workshop is 2 hours 30 mins and tickets are £42 pp. 

Bore Place, Weds 4 Dec

The November course has already sold out so don’t miss this second date in December! With a background in art and design, Jo Sheach is running a festive workshop at Bore Place. Using resources sourced from the grounds, learn simple techniques to combine natural and found materials into a unique Christmas decoration. No previous experience or knowledge is necessary. 9:45 am – 2pm, light lunch with tea, coffee and mince pies provided. Tickets are £49 pp. 

Penshurst Place, Weds 4 Dec

Last date available! Design and create your own Christmas wreath ready to hang upon your door with the help of expert Sandra Belton from Unique Floral Designs. Using foliage collected from the Penshurst Place estate, you will be able to create a truly unique wreath to be the envy of all your neighbours! 6pm – 8pm. Tickets are £43.71 pp.

The Walled Nursery, Hawkhurst, Weds 4 – Sat 14 Dec

Their infamous Christmas workshops are packed full of fun – nothing to do with the mulled wine! Learn how to make a luxurious Christmas Wreath in the beautiful glasshouses with hands on help at all stages. All materials provided, refreshments including mince pies, mulled wine and a festive lunch in the Vinery Cafe after the workshop at 1pm. Tickets are £65 pp. Book in quick, this festive day out is the perfect kick-start to Christmas!

Johnny’s Little Sister, Ightham, Weds 4 & Thurs 5 Dec

Johnny’s Little Sister, the family-run flower shop in Brasted is running a Wild Wreath Workshop this year. Experiment with festive materials and make something you’ll be proud of. Workshops will be at the cosy Plough Inn, Ightham with delicious festive nibbles, refreshments and a glass of mulled wine. Tickets are £48 pp including materials.

Knole Park, Weds 4 & Thurs 5 Dec

Spend the day making a beautiful wreath from winter greenery with demonstrations and one-to-one tuition from award-winning florist Sian Johnson. Once you’ve made your wreath base from greenery, decorate it with foliage from Knole’s walled garden. And why not complete the look and make a matching garland at their Garland Making workshop? Sian is a two time Chelsea Flower Show medal winner, with over ten years of experience in the floristry industry. Tickets are £65 pp.

Flowers by Enchantment, Tonbridge, Weds 4 – Sun 10 Dec

Come and learn how to make your own Christmas door wreath from scratch with the lovely Mandy and Claire from Flowers By Enchantment in Tonbridge. £40 pp with refreshments. 

Blooming Green, Maidstone, Sat 7 Dec

Only one date left so be quick! Learn how to make a festive Christmas Wreath using fresh foliage, berries and other lovely materials gathered and foraged from the Blooming Green flower pot and hedgerows. It all kicks off with a demo from Bek, the resident willow-weaver, who will show you how to make a willow base using the willow grown on the farm. Next you get to choose the foliage you’d like to use and then you’ll be shown how to bring it all together into a stunning Christmas wreath you’ll be proud to hang on your front door. £45 pp including cuppa and slice of cake. 

Wildwood Trust, Sat 7 Dec

Join the fun at Wildwood and make a Willow Wreath to take home! Use locally grown colourful willow and dogwood stems to make a re-usable wreath base then decorate it with natural materials. 10:30 am – 1 pm. £25 pp, materials provided.

Bedgebury Pinetum, Sat 7 & Tues 10 Dec

Talented local florist, Suzanne Price, will teach you techniques and tricks of the trade that will help you make your wreath a work of art. There is a Parent and Child session on Sat 7 Dec, 9am – 12pm, where all paying adults can bring one child aged 8 or over with them at no extra cost. Or visit the adults-only afternoon session starting at 12:30 – 3:30 pm. Tickets are £53 pp, including materials and seasonal refreshments.

Anna’s Country Flowers, Hares Farm Oast, 9 – 20 Dec

Learn how to make a Christmas Wreath or Christmas Garland this December with Anna. Make a traditional mossed wreath from scratch with lots of fresh foliage and beautiful dried flowers and berries to decorate. The Christmas Wreath workshop is £45 pp and Christmas Garland workshop is £55 pp – materials and refreshments included.
