Property Flirt

Ext Day plus Pond

Pack your bags Mr Muddy K – we’re moving to Wickhambreaux. Where? Wickhambreaux, I tell you. No, it’s not a village in Normandy, France, (although it does sound like it could be), but just off the A257 Sandwich Road, five miles east of Canterbury. There’s a stunning barn conversion on the market and, let me tell you when it comes to cool interiors and fixtures and fittings, this property is the cat’s pyjamas.

Shall we take a sneaky peeky and then I’ll give you some clues?

If it’s open plan living you love then Newnham Barn has got it in spades. The highest of high ceilings, glass fitted where possible for maximum light and openness and clean modern design lines. Beautifully finished to an extremely high standard, there are superflash touches including galleried reception hall (above), a stunning professional kitchen, a central wood-burning stove and, at the far gable end, bi-fold doors open to a terrace with far-reaching views over the surrounding countryside. Wouldn’t it be fun to look at your friends’ jaws hitting the floor when they first visit?

With Canterbury only 6 miles away, the barn itself sits in a rural location with far-reaching views over the lakes and marsh of the renowned Stodmarsh National Reserve.

‘Tell us more!’ you cry. (Er, no I mean it, ask me). Well, if you insist…

There’s a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a dressing area, walk-in wardrobe & en suite shower room, 4 further bedrooms (2 en suite), and a family bathroom. Outside there’s about an acre of landscaped gardens. Oh, and have I mentioned the covered heated swimming pool?

Excuse me while I slip off my shoes, recline on this sofa and sip a Champagne Martini. I think I’ve found my happy place…

The master bedroom is on the lower floor and opens onto a terrace and garden. Also on the upper floor is a large bedroom, currently used as a study. There is so much space and light in this property, I’m positively giddy…

There’s a useful annexe in case Granny comes to stay/live. Let’s face it, no one’s ever going to want to leave. Not when lazy summer days can be spent lounging round the large heated swimming pool (with weather-proof retractable roof)…

Basically this house is contemporary perfection. But perfection comes at a price. Ready to guess?

Discuss with your workmates, argue with your partner, decide on your wager and fix what you think the selling price is in your head. A free box of Quality Street if you get within £50k of the price, if I’m feeling flush. OK, let’s find out this goddam price!
