I’m a big music fan. Not that I’m any kind of knowledge on the subject you understand, but I always have it on – every day, whether I’m in the car, around the house, working (in fact I literally can’t write without it). And it’s not just to drown out my kids.
And while my taste is quite ecclectic I have very definite opinions about the songs I like (and don’t). And when I first heard Kent-born Katie Kittermaster – who was back then a local school girl (she’s literally just done her A Levels) I loved her pure, distinctive sound straight away. Have a listen – we think you will too
Her brand new single Sunday Afternoon is out now!
Katie playing at our Muddy Awards 2018 Evening at Chapel Down
Regular Muddy readers might remember she performed at our 2018 Muddy Awards (pictured above). Last year she was also chosen to support Jools Holland. Roll on to this summer and she’s playing at many of the bigger festivals including El Dorado, Pennfest, The Big Feastival and Carfest. Last week she opened for Ronan Keating…
As I write, Katie is opening for the current Boyzlife tour (a combo of Boyzown and West Life – just in case you didn’t know!). The Boyzlife tour is in the UK for over 22 nights with 15 gigs.
See what we mean? Watch this space people!
She’s also a great role-model to daughters everywhere too. Since just 13 years-old she’s had her head down, balancing her fledging performance career with her studies – quietly working away towards her dream. She started writing her own music at just 15. Yes, writing her own music!
Having made sure she got her A Levels first she’s now finally focusing on what she loves to do the most.
And because we know you love to support local we thought you’d want to be first in-the-know about this homegrown, hard-working, young star-in-the-making. If you like her story and sound as much as we do then, go spread the word!
Katie says: ‘When I was 15 I wrote my first song, Mine. This track received local and community radio play and for that I am forever grateful. Since then, I have written over 20 songs. My most recent track ‘T-Shirt’ was recognised in international and national song writing competitions which was amazing. At the moment I’m just enjoying the journey.’
