Dumbo, Stag Theatre Sevenoaks, Fri 29 March – Mon 1 April

Dumbo can fly! Don’t miss this brand new Disney film showing at the Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks this March. A fab way to get the kids out the house and c’mon, how cute does he look?

Film and Theatre Workshops, Trinity Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, Sat 30 Mar – Thu 18 Apr

Enjoy all-singing, all-dancing, jam-packed days of musical fun this Easter with workshops at the Trinity Theatre. For 7-13 year olds there’s a fab day of musical fun featuring songs and dances from West End hit Mamma Mia (the medley will then be performed to an audience of parents and friends at the end of the day). Or Movie in a Week, (where 13-19 yr olds are guided by local filmmakers – they get to shoot and act in their own movie); or the Stage Combat Workshop (where a professionally qualified expert will teach your kids how to punch, kick and throw to create the perfect stage illusion: an action-packed fight sequence). The Virtual Orchestra, Sidney Cooper Gallery, Canterbury, Sat 30 Mar – Sun 28 Apr

Brought to you by the Philharmonia Orchestra this experience has been described by The Guardian as: ‘An extraordinary glimpse inside the sights and sounds of a symphony orchestra’ and featured on BBC South East. Half of The Virtual Orchestra is a 10-room, walk-through installation that guides you through the instruments of an orchestra in a fun, engaging way – there’s even a special percussion room for visitors to get stuck in trying out some of the percussion instruments they see. The other half is a Virtual Reality experience placing the viewer in the centre of a massive symphony orchestra (VR suitable for ages 7+, everything else is all ages). Or why not try one of the Family Workshops? They are bespoke sessions for family groups run by some of the best music specialists in the UK, that guide the entire family through an orchestra – with hands-on activities and fun interactions inside the installation. They run on Saturdays (at 11am, 12pm, and 2pm), last for 45 mins, and are suitable for all ages.

Pop-up Cookery Workshops, Chiddingstone Castle, Thu 4 & Thu 11 Apr

After 9 years dedicated to food, Jo Banks brings creative recipe ideas together through fun, clear, interactive presentations and hands-on workshops. Throughout 2019, Jo Banks and her company Alive With Flavour will be hosting pop up cookery workshops in Chiddingstone Castle’s Victorian Kitchen. Sevenoaks Bookshop who have just won the very prestigious Independent Bookshop Of The Year from The British Book Awards 2019! And this April they’ll be welcoming local children’s illustrator Katharine McEwen who will be signing books from 11am. 

The Shape of Sound, Historic Chatham Dockyard, Sat 6 – Sat 20 April

Get your vocal chords warmed up and ready because this years’ Secret Lab at The Historic Dockyard in Chatham is all about sound! Doc.Yard’s Secret Lab has been running here for the past 5 years and was developed to stimulate family learning for Science, Technology and Engineering. Let your kids set off on a nuclear submarine and help Bunsen complete the experiments to explore the use of sound. Taking place in the No.1 Smithery which used to be home to lots of extreme noises from striking and working metals seems like the perfect place to make it noisy again! With over 15 experiments taking place, there’s lots of things to do here this Easter.

Medieval Story Garden, Canterbury Tales, Sat 6  – Sun 15 Apr

This Easter The Canterbury Tales visitor attraction will reopen the gates to its Medieval Story Garden where families will join in the Knights Tournament! Children and grown-ups alike can practice their battle skills through a series of activities. Sword skills, mock jousting, medieval remedies and more will all be explored during this fun family activity. Are you battle ready?

Easter at Bore Place, Sat 6 – Thurs 18 April 

So much going on at Bore Place this Easter from baking artisan sourdough, farmyard crafting and baking, cookie baking and trail walks and den building. Their Easter Holiday Club is running from Tues 9 and Weds 10, 9-4pm where you can drop your kids off for a fun day of exploring the farm, vegetable gardens and they can even meet the furry creatures that make Bore Places’ farm their home. 

Easter Adventure Quest, Dover Castle, Sat 6 – Mon 22 Apr

Sitting high atop the iconic White Cliffs, Dover Castle is the most iconic of all English fortresses. From the mighty medieval keep to the labyrinth of secret wartime tunnels below, a family day out at Dover towers above all others (geddit?) Join the hunt for dragon eggs on a legendary quest this Easter holiday. Crack the clues as you and your family follow the trail around Dover Castle. Intrepid adventurers who track down the dragon egg will get a certificate and a sticker to prove it, and there’ll be a chocolate treat too!

Dreamland, Margate, Sat 6 Apr – Fri 24 May

 Dreamland Margate are pleased to announce that the amusement park will open on 6th April 2019 – and will be free to enter for Easter! 2019 is going to be a special year for Margate, with the Turner Prize 2019 coming to town this autumn and the countdown to the 100th anniversary starting this summer. So start the season with a bang!

Easter Family Fun, Hever Castle, Sat 6 – Mon 22 Apr

Not your normal Easter egg hunt! Make some special family memories this Easter, hop through the beautiful grounds following the trail of colourful carrots to claim your delicious chocolate treat. Celebrate spring by making and decorating an Easter bonnet at daily craft workshops*. Then show off your creation in a parade in front of the Castle with prizes for the best bonnets. With a spring in your step, head into the Castle and help search for hidden bunnies. As well as the Easter themed activities a visit to Hever Castle in spring offers a great chance to explore the stunning gardens. Hever Castle will be full of Easter family fun.

Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt, Ightham Mote, Sat 6 – Mon 22 Apr

Discover more about the lifecycle of Ightham Mote’s animal friends on this family nature-themed trail. On Thursday 11 April have a go at pond dipping or on Thursday 18 April find out more about the local mini beast population. There are crafts activities in the house, storytelling sessions and lawn games on hand to keep everyone happy (especially after your chocolatey prize!).

Spring into Easter, Kent Life, Sat 6 – Mon 22 Apr

Get stuck into farmyard life this Easter and meet lambs and goat kids as well as piglets (oink, oink). Have a go at bottle feeding the lambs in sessions throughout the day, hop on a fun farm ride, or enjoy indoor and outdoor play areas, bouncy castle, donkey rides, cuddle corner and so much more.

Michael will be running three open workshops at the Weald of Kent Sevenoaks Annexe, so all you budding thespians out there can learn dazzling songs and dance routines from one of the stars of the show.

Easter Cooking Course, Kent College Pembury, Thurs 11 April 

Using Kent College’s newly refurbished Food Technology kitchens, this class will help children create a whole host of sweet and savoury Easter treats. They will learn a whole host of invaluable cooking skills which can be transferred to the kitchen at home. This is a hands-on, fun and informative experience and will involve baking delicious treats such as hot cross buns, sausage rolls and a chocolate surprise! The Jungle Book, Theatre Royal Margate, Sat 13 – Sun 14 April

From the producers of the smash hit UK tour of Alice in Wonderland, Wicked Productions in association with Jordan Productions present a brand-new hilarious family production of The Jungle Book. With brand new songs, creative staging and bags full of fun, why not bring your cheeky little monkeys to laugh like a pack of hyenas when The Jungle Book swings into town!

Bunny Hunt, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, Wed 17 – Mon 22 April

Hunt for the hidden bunnies amongst the rhododendrons and earn yourself some chocolate egg rewards. Conveniently located just outside Sevenoaks (you may have whizzed past it on the A21) we can highly recommend paying a visit to Riverhill Himalayan Gardens – a smaller, boutique family day out with a garden café and shop. No need to book, family events are included in your entry price. 10.30am – 4pm.

Easter Fun with the Junk Orchestra, Leeds Castle, Fri 19 – Mon 22 April

Join the Junk Orchestra at Leeds Castle for daily musical ‘jamming sessions’. Create and play with instruments that have been cleverly constructed using bits of old rubbish. Founded by former STOMP member Saul Eisenberg, the Junk Orchestra use a super-sonic recycled collection of objects to create fun and fabulous music for the whole family to enjoy! Families can even bring along some of their own litter and add it to an incredible sculpture created by award winning eco-artist Sarah Turner, which will also be displayed on the Pavilion Lawn. Children can also give their creative skills free reign at the Castle’s ‘mad hat’ making workshop. From colourful bunny ears to floral spring headbands, have a go at creating a fun and funky Easter hat using card, paint and glitter. Round off the fun with an Easter Trail through the grounds to win a chocolate reward.

All-Weather Championship Finals Day, Lingfield Park Racecourse, Fri 19 April 

A great day out for the whole family on Good Friday. As well as the racing here’s plenty of entertainment  including live music, and Easter egg hunt, face painting, inflatable derby hoppers, chocolate giveaways and a giant inflatable assault course.

Mount Ephraim Gardens is set in ten glorious acres of stunning Edwardian terraced gardens against a backdrop of the beautiful Kent countryside. Hunt for giant eggs hidden around the gardens, taste some Easter treats in the Tea Room, and watch some falconry from Joe’s Bows this Easter Weekend. Egg-citing!

Selfie Factory, Bluewater, Throughout April

In case you needed another reason to visit Bluewater this Easter other than the new Primark (I have an 11-year-old daughter, don’t judge!) here’s another – the Selfie Factory. Guests will be able to explore over 10 unique settings in which they’ll be able to capture amazing Instagrammable moments – from a giant ball pit to a doughnut wall! Each visitor can spend up to an hour in the pop-up, taking as many pictures as they desire. Tickets are from £9, and as availability is limited, booking is recommended. Take your family back in time and join in the hunt around the home and gardens of Henry VIII at Hampton Court. Kids can solve challenges to win a delicious Lindt Gold Bunny chocolate reward! Pick up the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt trail map when you arrive at the palace and follow the clues on the trail to find the golden bunny statues hidden around the palace and gardens, whilst discovering some of Hampton Court’s famous characters from the past. Also check out The Magic Garden at Hampton Court, a magical children’s playground where kids can come face to face with mysterious mythical beasts, storm the battlements, besiege the towers and explore the secret grotto. Hampton Court certainly offers a fun-filled day-out this Easter!

Spun Candy Children’s Masterclass, Spitalfields, London, Various Dates

If you fancy a day out in London, why not indulge your sweet-tooth (and theirs) by enrolling them in a lollipop making workshop at Spun Candy. The hour-long class, at the main candy kitchen in Spitalfields in London, will take the kids on a journey through the art of candy making and they’ll get to shape their very own candylicious tutti fruiti rainbow creation which they’ll take home. The cost is £30 per child and it’s best for kids aged 6-17.

Pixar in Concert, Brighton Dome, East Sussex, Sun 14 April

Travel down to the coast this Easter and enjoy music from Toy Story, Ratatouille, A Bug’s Life, Monster Inc, Cars & many more!  A brand-new version of Pixar In Concert will come to Brighton Dome celebrating the most memorable moments from Pixar films, with a full orchestra performing the stunning scores. Featuring award-winning music from the likes of by Randy Newman, Michael Giacchino, and Thomas Newman, the arrangements take the audience on a magical journey through the Pixar back catalogue. A show for Pixar fans of all ages!
