<p>You’ll quickly forget Eddie Redmayne was ever&nbsp;<em>The Danish Girl</em>&nbsp;or a&nbsp;<em>Fantastic Beasts</em>&nbsp;wizard after seeing him in this slick remake of Frederick Forsyth’s seminal spy thriller,&nbsp;<em><strong>The Day of the Jackal</strong></em>. Unbelievably good, while staying true to the book and the 1973 film, Redmayne plays the anonymous assassin, with Lashana Lynch continuing her spy era playing Bianca the MI6 agent tasked with bringing him down. Charles Dance, Úrsula Corberó and Richard Dormer also star in this nail-biter of a watch.</p>

<p>Forget shivering at a fireworks display, get your bonfire fix with this dramatic reimagining of the most infamous rebellion plot in British history. Focusing more on the aftermath of the plot,&nbsp;<strong><em>Gunpowder Siege</em></strong>&nbsp;spotlights the three leaders, Robert Catesby, Thomas Wintour, and their ruthless enforcer Thomas Percy, who make a run for it after their plot is foiled and Guy Fawkes becomes toast. After relocating to the midlands they resume rebellion talks, their plan? To overthrow King James of course. Chuku Modu, Luke Roberts and Luke Hobson star in this fascinating drama.</p>

<p>With Halloween long gone and Bonfire night almost a distant memory it’s time to deck the halls and go full steam ahead to Christmas, and you know what that means? The onslaught of cheesy Hallmark movies! Kicking things off,&nbsp;<strong><em>Meet Me Next Christmas</em></strong>&nbsp;sees one single gal (Christina Milian) looking for love and two potential suitors – the one she thinks she wants to be with (Kofi Siriboe) and the unsuspecting hot friend helping her out (Devale Ellis). Throw in some transport issues, perfectly timed snowfall, a Pentatonix concert (whatta throwback) and you have yourself a classic a cappella Christmas rom-com. Cheesy yes, but let’s be honest, we’re all here for it.</p>

<p>You’d be forgiven for forgetting all about this gritty thriller what with the writers strike and Jeff Bridges’ health it’s taken quite a while to get&nbsp;<strong><em>The Old Man</em></strong>&nbsp;back on screen, but worth it to see Bridges, John Lithgow and Alia Shawkat together again. Season two sees Bridges’ stubborn agent, Dan Chase back in the mountains of Afghanistan with his FBI frenemy Harold Harper (Lithgow). The pair are on a mission to find the woman they both know as Emily Chase, but neither are prepared for what they find along the way. Gasp.&nbsp;Watch for Bridges, he is beyond fantastic.</p>

<p>Another week, another dose of true crime drama and this week it’s a doozy! Many will know the story of Lord Lucan – the man most wanted for the 1974 murder of Sandra Rivett. Police have been looking for Lucan for decades to no avail, but all that could be about to change. Neil Berriman, a builder from Hampshire, discovered he is Rivett’s biological son and this fascinating doc follows Berriman’s journey for justice. Starting with the night of the murder, spanning continents all the way to Australia where Berriman believes&nbsp;<strong><em>Lucan</em></strong>&nbsp;is living under an alias. Crazy stuff, even if true crime isn’t your usual bag, you’ll easily get drawn into this unbelievable story.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Russo Brother’s espionage series,<strong>&nbsp;<em>Citadel</em></strong>, expands to India in this origin story of sorts which sheds some light onto how Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra’s character in the opening season) was recruited into the world of spies. We’re transported to the 1990s where we meet Nadia’s mother, Agent Honey (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) a former actress recruited into Citadel by stunt artist, Bunny (Rahi Gambhir). When a visit from her past causes Honey’s personal and professional worlds to collide, her family’s survival is at stake. Fun, fast and a must for fans already hooked on the franchise.</p>

<p>Right on schedule<em>&nbsp;<strong>Wolf Hall</strong></em>&nbsp;returns to screens just as the nights are drawing in and we all need a historical epic to get stuck into. It’s 1536, Anne Boleyn has lost her head, and Damian Lewis’ Henry VIII is already moving on with Jane Seymour (Kate Phillips), leaving Thomas Cromwell (a superb Mark Rylance) torn between keeping his King happy (and his head intact) and doing what is right. Timothy Spall, Harriet Walter, Jonathan Pryce and Thomas Brodie-Sangster also star, rounding off Hilary Mantell’s triptych of tales charting Cromwell’s climb to power and wealth. Utterly captivating.</p>
