<p>There’s a new cosy, clever, crime show on the block and her name is&nbsp;<strong><em>Patience.</em></strong>&nbsp;A slick UK remake of the French-Belgian hit,&nbsp;<em>Astrid — Murder in Paris</em>, which follows the burgeoning partnership between the brilliant, if a bit chaotic, Detective Bea Metcalfe (Laura Fraser), and a young, autistic archivist, Patience Evans (Ella Maisy Purvis), who works in the depths of Yorkshire police’s case archives, aka Paper Mountain. Their first case, a textbook suicide, or is it..? We’re particularly loving this neurodiverse twist on the trad crime caper and the lush views of York.</p>

<p>Emilia Fox and David Caves are back as Dr Nikki Alexander and Jack Hodgson as&nbsp;<strong><em>Silent Witness</em></strong>&nbsp;returns for a (gulp) 28th season this week. Kicking off with a gripping, two-part, whodunnit, which sees the team on the case when a woman’s body is discovered in a cave. Maggie Steed and Francesca Mills are the newbies amongst the cast, other that that not much else has changed, the world of crime solving pathology rages on – well if it ain’t broke…</p>

<p>In it’s heyday&nbsp;<em>The Jerry Springer Show</em>&nbsp;was top of the daytime telly charts, it even knocked Oprah off the primo spot at one point, now the mere memory of it sends shivers down our collective spines. The tabloid show with its weird and wild “my sister is my wife” storylines may have drawn in the viewers but the effects were devastating for those involved. This documentary takes a cold hard look behind the fist fights on stage and what went into making the show featuring candid interviews with former producers, show bookers and guests. Like a car crash, and the show itself, this doc is impossible not to watch.</p>

<p>For more crime-busting and bad guy-catching check out<strong><em>&nbsp;On Call,</em></strong>&nbsp;it has classic police procedural written all over it. A rookie officer, Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente) is paired up with a tough veteran officer, Traci Harmon (Troian Bellasario of&nbsp;<em>Pretty Little Liars</em>&nbsp;fame) and together they patrol the mean streets of Long Beach, California. But, it’s not just the criminals they have to worry about as Harmon has a hush-hush, chequered past. Ok, it’s not mould shattering stuff but there’s high speed police chases, secrets, lies and a cracking new double act – what’s not to love?</p>

<p>Fans of<em>&nbsp;Yellowstone</em>&nbsp;here’s a new one for you while you await Taylor Sheridan’s next Wild West missive. Inspired by the Mountain Meadows Massacre of 1857, where over 120 white settlers were savagely murdered by a Mormon militia,&nbsp;<strong><em>American Primeval</em></strong>&nbsp;follows Sara (a fearless Betty Gilpin) and her son as they make a treacherous cross-country journey to find her husband. But alas, this is no country for a woman on her own, enter her knight in shining armour, Taylor Kitsch, who vows to keep her safe adding some romance to the grit, grub and savagery. Gripping stuff.</p>

<p>Keep things spooky (and nostalgic) with this slick adaptation of R L Stine’s&nbsp;<strong><em>Goosebumps</em></strong>. This first episode of the new season stars David Schwimmer – the whole reason we’re watching, let’s be honest – who plays a nerdy, incredibly Ross-like Dad with a strict policy about his kids entering the basement. Curious. Surprisingly enjoyable and kid appropriate so consider your Friday night family watch, sorted.</p>

<p>In need of some heart warming? It’s time for another visit to the&nbsp;<strong><em>Bank of Dave.&nbsp;</em></strong>Not content with funding Britain’s first community bank, Dave Fishwick (Rory Kinnear) tackles a bigger, meaner opponent in the second movie; payday lenders. Loosely based on true events, this film has all the same rooting-for-the-underdog feels thanks to the return of director Chris Foggin (<em>Fisherman’s Friends</em>), but with an injection of A-listers (hello Chrissy Metz, Rob Delaney, Hugh Bonneville, Leila Farzad and Dan Fogler). Lovely stuff.</p>
