Woodlands Festival, Elm Wood, Hawkhurst, Cranbrook, 9, 10, 11 June

If you only make it to one festival this summer, make it this one. This funky, family-friendly weekend event is coming to Cranbrook for the first time and will take place over three days. A  boutique, small intimate celebration with music, food and activities set amongst the rolling green fields of the Kent countryside… Throw in Outdoor Cinema, Silent Disco and loads of kids stuff including Woodland Treasure Hunts, story-telling and bushcraft. (And it’s all in aid of Cancer Research and Dementia UK). I’m definitely going!

Big 7 Scooter Rally, Hop Farm, 9 – 11 June

The Big 7 Scooter Rally is a weekend of live bands, DJ’s, vintage scooters, hot food, custom shows, markets and more… There is even the option of camping at The Hop Farm and staying the whole weekend.

Novel Writing Course, Hever Castle, 10 June

Ideal for anyone wanting to write quality fiction, the day covers a variety of techniques and approaches to help aspiring writers develop storylines, structure and plan their book, write effective synopses and of course the all-important – edit. Participants will study various ways of creating suspense, tension and atmosphere, developing realistic characters and writing convincing dialogue. You’ll also examine ways of getting your book into shape before submitting it to agents and publishers. All in an inspiring, magical setting – just right to get creative juices flowing.

Tedx-Royal-Tunbridge-Wells, Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, 10 June

Ted Talks, in the form of Tedx-Royal-Tunbridge-Wells, is coming to the Assembly Hall Theatre for the first time. This time we’ll see a range of high profile speakers talking about the theme ‘Discovery’. Speakers range from double gold Olympic winner Dame Kelly to Lance Corporal Cassidy, a former Royal Marine medic, who lost his leg in Afghanistan and shares his story of the challenges he had to overcome. These events are all about getting people talking about stuff that they are passionate about and where they believe they can make a real difference.

Wealden Times Midsummer Fair, Hole Park, Rolvenden, Thurs 8, Fri 9 and Sat 10 June

This years’ Wealden Times Midsummer Fair is taking place in the beautiful gardens of Hole Park. Tickets cost less than a tenner and it’s the perfect mix of fantastic shopping, inspiring speakers and delicious food and drink – so make room in the boot of your car for all those goodies, grab a couple of girlfriends and go for the afternoon.

Strawberry Fair, Brogdale Collections, 11 Jun

Strawberry Fair at Brogdale celebrates the first fruit of the season with a English country fair for all the family to enjoy. Discover rare & unusual strawberry varieties grown right here in Kent including our own Brogdale Delicious strawberry. Sip a glass of Pimms in meadow or enjoy a slice of strawberry cake in the tearoom while listening to live music… You had me at Pimms.

Rolls Royce Sunday, Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, 11 June

Motorheads can admire the classic cars as the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts’ Club visit these picturesque gardens. No additional charge, after admission. No booking required. And at least if you’re keeping someone company but this is not your cuppa tea you can go have coffee and cake in the cute cafe.
