Superflashy Newsflash!

Our ear is firmly to the ground and these are the rumblings we’re hearing this week…

Woodlands Festival launches in Kent

How cool does this look? It’s a funky, family-friendly weekend festival coming to Cranbrook this summer. The Woodlands Festival will take place on – 9, 10, 11 June and promises to be a boutique, small intimate festival set amongst the rolling green fields of the Kent countryside. There will be top tunes, fantastic food, camping and glamping options so you can reconnect with your inner hipster and escape for the weekend. Throw in Outdoor Cinema, Silent Disco and loads of kids stuff including Woodland Treasure Hunts, story-telling and bushcraft. (And it’s all in aid of Cancer Research and Dementia UK).

Lavender Massage, Lavender Fields, Castle Farm, Shoreham

Fancy an al fresco lavender massage? ‘Course you do – now you’ve seen these piccies. Once beloved of grannies, this ancient plant is now impeccably on trend and I’ve heard from a friend that these are so gooood and relaxing. The Castle Farm Lavender Massages are back and available for booking. They always a complete sell out by July and the 30 mins appointments have almost all gone, so *sigh* you’ll just have to book in for a full 60 mins then won’t you? But move like lightening because they are super popular. There’s also Lavender Tours with a Castle Farm guide – they take you right into the lavender fields and teach you all about the growing / uses and history of the plant which start in mid-June. And you’ll love the Lavender Picnic evenings – lots of families go to these and I’ll let you know the dates as soon as they’re released.

The Wife of Bath, new Tapas Bar and Restaurant with Rooms, Wye

There are so many things to shout about this new restaurant I don’t know where to start. Firstly it’s the creation of chef and restaurateur Mark Sargeant (Kent-born chef who was sous chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay for four years during which time it won three Michelin stars – just sayin’). Sargeant wanted to offer something different so he opened a Spanish-influenced restaurant with rooms – a truly inspired idea and the food looks *awesomesauce* – check it out, (above). Wye, just north of Ashford, is also just the prettiest place with loads of lovely walking nearby in the North Down. What’s more the massive refurbishment included six super stylish rooms to stay overnight or a cottage located in the garden area of the property, containing two separate king rooms both with en suite showers. These can be booked individually or together, giving you the run of the cottage. I’m so there!

Gilchrist & Gray, tailored luxury travel agent opens in Hawkhurst

A friendly, indie, boutique travel agent has just opened in Hawkhurst near the village centre. Run by Penny Gray who has 25 years’ luxury and tailormade travel industry experience and who has spent the last 17 travelling with children in tow she knows a thing or two about luxury family travel. Penny says: ‘We are proudly independent and work with a wide portfolio of the very best travel companies to transform a good holiday into a perfect one.’ So if you’re sick of spending hours surfing online and not finding what you want this could be the perfect pitstop.

White Company super store opens at Bluewater

The White Company has opened its super-duper upsized store at Bluewater, (what? rushing out already? but you forgot your car keys…).  This is the enormous statement store for the luxury lifestyle brand almost doubled in size of the previous store. It’s adjacent to Hobbs, Russell & Bromley and the new statement store combines the brand’s complete range of exclusive lifestyle products, from women’s fashion and accessories, to homewares, beauty products and The Little White Company’s childrenswear. And because, hey, we’re all short of time and, sometimes, you just can’t beat an edited choice, the store now offers a styling service with our expert stylists who can be booked for a free personalised one-to-one appointment.
