Virtual Cooking Workshops, The Cooking Apple, Thurs 4 & 18 Nov

Stuck in a cooking rut? Fed up with churning out the same old recipes and family meals? (Can’t be just us?!) Look no further than the brilliant Pip at Sevenoaks based cookery school, The Cooking Apple. This November, Pip is running 2 different live virtual cooking workshops which are super speedy, only 40mins long so you can enjoy a small experience, in the comfort of your own home AND have dinner made! Sign us up!

Move over chilled summer sushi, this Autumn Asian Class is all about keeping those delicious umami flavours but in a comforting, steaming bowl. On the menu is ‘yakimeshi’ or Japanese fried rice and some delicious miso-marinated lamb. Class starts Thurs 4 Nov at 7:30pm. Tickets are just £15.

After something sweeter? Why not try this pudding class, The Pudding Apple? Pip will share a winter berries take on tiramisu (a great dessert to learn how to make ahead of the party season!) and some chocolate treats to enjoy with coffee. Class is on Thurs 18 Nov at 7:30pm. Tickets are just £15.

OR if you’re completely over Zoom and would like to try a class in-real-life, join Pip for a Cosy Curry Evening (7:30-9pm) at Vine Baptist Church in Sevenoaks on Weds 10 Nov. Curries are great for feeding a crowd stress-free – plus you can make them a day in advance! The evening will start by making some tasty Asian-style nibbles, then sit, relax with a mocktail whilst Pip demos a great curry. She’ll show you how to make it spicy or mellow and how to add some great ‘cheat’ sides to make it a real feast. Book your ticket here.

Rib Club, Smoqe, Rochester, Weds 10 Nov

The first Wednesday of every month is Rib Club at Smoqe! Savour their deliciously tender St Louis Cut Pork Ribs, taste new recipes and sample some specialist craft beers in the company of fellow foodies. Canterbury’s Christmas Light Up Parade, Fri 12 Nov

Head to Canterbury city centre on Fri 12 Nov (6-7pm) to enjoy the launch of this year’s Christmas festivities. There will be a Light Up Parade beginning at 6pm with the illumination of Westgate Towers, and as the parade moves up the high street, the light-up will follow! Led by the fantastic No Limit Street Band with elves, Christmas characters, lanterns and The Marlowe Theatre’s Panto cast members will be following in a a fairy-tale horse drawn carriage. Ending at Rose Ware where you’ll meet KMFM Presenter Garry Wilson for the final selection of lights to be switched on and the festive season to officially begin! Whilst you’re in town, why not pop along to the fantastic Christmas Market? It’s open from 10am-7pm in St Georges Street, Whitefriars and Rose Lane.

DJ Ride & Dance Night, SPN Tunbridge Wells, Fri 12 Nov

Oooh you won’t wanna miss this! SPN in Tunbridge Wells has got a very cool Live DJ Ride and Dance evening. Choose between a Ride 60, taught by 2 instructors with a DJ set for 60mins of high energy house music or an 80s themed Dance Aerobics Class – or go wild and do both! Ceramic Workshop at Water Lane, Hawkhurst, Thurs 18 Nov

You won’t wanna miss this! Local potter Kate Monckton Ceramics is coming to Water Lane in November with a pottery workshop. On Thurs 18 Nov create 2 tea cups and a small vase (pictured) using the ‘Kurinuki’ method. It promises to be a fun and informative day, the perfect chance to try something new and create your own piece of pottery. 

Kate will be on hand throughout the day to offer guidance and help, there will also be be breaks during the day for mid-morning coffee and lunch. Kate will take your finished pieces away to be fired and glazed, then you’ll be able to return to Water Lane for you to pick up 2 weeks later. Christmas at Hever Castle, Sat 20 Nov – Mon 3 Jan 2022

Are you ready for the ‘C’ word? The magic of Christmas is coming soon to Hever Castle with 2 Christmas Trails, Fairground, Santa’s Grotto and a visit from the Huskies (weekends 12-8pm until 24 Dec), there’s plenty to see and do to get into the Christmas spirit. Take the kids along to the Pinocchio’s Christmas Trail where you’ll start in Geppetto’s Workshop surrounded by his wonderful woodcarving creations and then journey through the land of toys (don’t forget to find Jiminy Cricket) and the story of Pinocchio. Finishing as the Blue Fairy grants Pinocchio’s wish of becoming a ‘real boy’.

If you’re up for a longer stomp, try Hever’s after-dark Christmas Light Trail which takes approx 1.5 hours to see the Castle’s much-loved landmarks lit up in glorious colours. Starting from 4pm, wrap up warm, enjoy a walk under the stars and witness the enchantment of the Castle, gardens and lake festooned with fabulous colours and twinkling lights. Bring torches and don’t forget your wellies.

Christmas at Leeds Castle, 27 Nov – 2 Jan 2022

Bats Trail, Bodiam Castle, Until Sun 28 Nov
