The Chiddingstone Literary Festival, Sun 6, Mon 7 & Tues 8 May

Chiddingstone is go, go go! Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thurs 1 March, for this brilliant local festival brimming with talks, workshops and performances for all the family. Now in its third year, the festival promises to be bigger and better than ever before with an impressive line-up of authors recruited for this year, including the No 1 UK bestselling crime writer Ian Rankin (creator of TV’s brooding Detective Inspector John Rebus) and Lauren Child, the current Waterstones’ Children’s Laureate (you know, the author of Charlie and Lola). Unleash your inner creativity.

The Little Welly, St. Clere Estate, Sevenoaks, 22 & 23 Sept

The fun, family event that everyone is talking about is finally coming to Kent! It’s the UK’s biggest obstacle course for children and it’s already been a huge success in neighbouring Surrey. Now, for the first time, Kent joins The Little Welly family with 30 obstacles along a 3km route and it will take place at St. Clere Estate in Sevenoaks this September. Watch this space because we’ll make sure you’re first to know when tickets go on sale.

The Pig restaurant with rooms coming to Canterbury

Have you heard of the group of rural-themed, shabby-chic The Pig hotels? Starting with the New Forest hotel they have launched a select string of stylish restaurants with rooms and have basically upped the bar on the country-house foodie hotel thing. Now the brand even has a cool food and music festival associated with it too (Smoked & Uncut dontcha know). Well word has reached my shell-like that the latest addition into the litter will give them a trotter-hold in Kent – hallelujah! Hey no pushing at the front! The village of Bridge, near Canterbury has already seen diggers and dumper trucks arriving to begin renovations on The Pig at Bridge Place (16th century manor house, pictured above), due to open in Autumn 2018 (probably November). See you there!

Yoga Retreat to Mallorca, 6 – 13 Oct

The team behind the fabulous Flow Yoga in Tunbridge Wells (read my review here) are hosting another Flow Away Yoga Retreat abroad – a week of yoga, unwinding, food and friendship in the mountains of Mallorca. The week takes place in a stunning bespoke yoga retreat venue, Tramuntana Flow, and is run by Flow founder Lucy Parker who will be offering two 2-hour sessions a day (optional) and the rest of the time is yours to chillax by this pool, pictured above. Nice view, eh? Book online or call to discuss the retreat and room options, Lucy: 07976 439122.

Birdsong in Tunbridge Wells this summer

When I heard this iconic book had been turned into a must-see, powerful and poignant play I booked my tickets faster than you could say *cough* Isabelle and Stephen (it’s coming to Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells on Mon 2 to Sat 7 Jul). If for some reason you’ve entirely lost your mind and are still sitting on the fence about whether or not to bother going to see this memorable piece of theatre here’s an early Muddy review. Luckily my friend and colleague, Sarah, aka Muddy Gloucestershire caught it when it came to her county.
