The Dresser, The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, Tues 1 – Sat 5 Feb

Don’t miss one of the most acclaimed dramas of modern theatre. Inspired by memories of working as Donald Wolfit’s dresser as a young man, Ronald Harwood’s evocative, affectionate and hilarious portrait of backstage life comes to Canterbury. Here’s the story: it is 1942 and in a war-torn provincial theatre an ageing actor manager, known to his loyal acting company as ‘Sir’ (played by Matthew Kelly, Olivier Award winner), is struggling to cling on to his sanity and complete his 227 performance of King Lear. It is down to Norman (beloved Julian Clary), Sir’s devoted dresser, to ensure that in spite of everything, the show goes on.

Hear classic music from all the jazz greats who have performed at Ronnie Scott’s over its incredible 60+ year history, alongside tales of old Soho and police raids.

The Miraculous Mis-adventures of Robin Hood, Trinity Theatre, Thurs 10 – Weds 16 Feb

The perfect half-term treat for all the family – five actors, one well-loved story and plenty of comedy! This hilarious musical starring The Three Inch Fools will bring their unique brand of madcap and wildly inventive storytelling to Trinity Theatre’s stage in Tunbridge Wells. Expect original music, Morris dancing, sword fights, awful archery and hundreds of costume changes.

Medway Light Nights, Fri 11 – Sat 12 Feb

Medway Light Nights is a free spectacular festival of light which will transform Rochester’s iconic buildings and spaces into works of art this Feb from 6-9pm for 2 nights. Kicking off with the Night Lights Lantern Parade starting at the car park at Almon Place finishing at Rochester Castle Garden on Friday. Don’t miss CROSSROADS (pictured), immersive optical illusions created by light, sound and mirrors in Boley Hill Car Park – which looks amazing!

Supper Clubs, The Red Lion, Stodmarsh, Fri 11 & Sat 12 Feb

Wildlife Explorers, Leeds Castle, Sat 12 – Sun 20 Feb

This February half term become a first-class explorer at Leeds Castle! Pop on your wellies and scarves, gather the family to follow the exciting activity trail, where you’ll learn about the different wildlife that call Leeds Castle home. Join the squirrels to find the hidden acorns, discover the colourful British butterflies, and help us spot the magnificent birds, from a Robin to a Blue Tit. You’ll start your adventure in the Princess Alexandra Gardens before venturing to the Culpeper Garden, and finishing the trail by the Maze and Knight’s Stronghold Playground!

Single SUP Adventure, Bewl Water, Sat 12 Feb

Our next Singles SUP adventure is taking place on the beautiful Bewlwater on Saturday 12th February. Taking place from 9am – 12 noon, join our social to meet like minded singletons, as we paddle around the stunning reservoir, stopping off for a breakfast picnic in the woodlands.  Come and join us to connect on the water and explore together.  Tickets cost £15 and include breakfast and a guided SUP adventure. You can add board and wetsuit hire for £10 extra.

Diving Deep: Exhibition, Historic Dockyard Chatham, 12 Feb – 20 Nov

Join us this year to explore our new, immersive exhibition showcasing objects and findings from the Diving Deep: HMS Invincible archaeological excavation. The exhibition tells the story of the amazing Invincible, her capture, the contribution she made to the British Royal Navy and ship design and her subsequent sinking and rediscovery by a local fisherman, Arthur Mack, nearly 200 years later. Entry to the exhibition is included in your admission ticket to The Dockyard.

Faversham Literary Festival, Sat 12 – Sun 20 Feb

Calling all lit fans! Don’t miss this week-long programme of eclectic, thought-provoking and fun events with an exciting mix of well-known authors, leading thinkers, up-and-coming writers and local talent. There’s also writing competitions for all ages plus workshops, spoken word, slam poetry and more! The unmissable spoken word poets Hollie McNish, JJ Bola and Raymond Antrobus will be at the festival this year. Tickets are on sale now.

Nature Week, Hever Castle, 12 – 20 Feb

Get back in touch with the great outdoors this February half term at Hever Castle. Put on your wellies and head around the Lake for a free nature themed scavenger hunt. On arrival you’ll be given a bag with a list of items to find around Lake Walk. Warm up inside the Castle and listen to an interactive audio guide which is now included in the Castle & Gardens admission price. As you wander from room to room you may also notice a few creatures that aren’t normally in the Castle. Then let your little ones get creative in a free workshop. They’ll be able to paint and decorate their very own pine cone and turn them into a critter of their choice.

Paint your Paddle Workshop, The Gardens, Yalding, Sun 13 Feb

Join our painting workshop where you will learn how to paint your favourite paddling photo and turn it into artwork that inspires you every time you look at it. When paddling, we are inspired by colours, the movement of the trees and the ripples of the water. A photo can snap that moment of peace and tranquility out on your board and painting can help us connect with our inner selves, and can bring peace and relaxation. So choose your image and come and join us to paint that special moment. Open to all beginner painters and those of all levels and skill, you will receive tuition from the brilliant China Jordan of ArtistAnd where she will show you how to create your own SUP masterpieces. China will guide you through exercises and practices before applying your learnings to your own paddling picture. You will then head home with your acrylic painted canvas under your arm ready to hang at home.

Held at The Gardens at Yalding (ME18 6EX), the day includes a light lunch from the incredible Tipis Restaurant. This unique workshop with the Paddle Cabin will be one to remember, so sign up now to paint the day away. All workshops are fully guided, aimed at beginners and include all tuition, tools and materials.

Valentine’s Paddle, Canoe Wild, Canterbury, Sun 13 Feb

This Valentines Day, say I LOVE YOU, in a Canoe! We have a beautiful guided Canoe paddle from Fordwich to Grove Ferry on Sunday the 13th of February from 10 am – 1.30pm. This stunning river excursion will allow for loved ones to take in the picturesque views, incredible wildlife as well as take time for yourselves and each other. £35 pp.

Fairy Scavenger Hunt, Whitstable Castle, Mon 14 – Fri 18 Feb

Do you believe in fairies? Come and hunt for clues around Whitstable Castle Gardens and see if you can spot all the hidden fairies. Pick up your Scavenger Hunt sheet (£1 per child) from reception 11am till 3pm, Mon 17 – Fri 21 Feb and get believing.

Royal Opera House Live: Romeo & Juliet, Quarterhouse, Folkestone, Mon 14 Feb

Jenny Eclair, Gulbenkian Arts Centre, Canterbury, Weds 16 Feb

Comedian Jenny Eclair will be performing her brand new comedy stand-up show Sixty! (FFS) at The Gulbenkian this month. Having hit 60 (but still a year younger than Madonna), Jenny Eclair confronts this new decade. Now that it takes 20 minutes of scrolling down to find her DOB when she’s filling in forms online, should she celebrate or crawl into a hole? What will her 60’s hold for this 1960’s babe and is it a legal requirement to buy Nordic walking poles?

Half Term Paddle, Canoe Wild, Canterbury, Sat 19 Feb

Come along to our special family paddle in February half term – for you and your little ones! 10am -1:30pm. Guided trip along the River Stour with our coaches to see the wildlife and beautiful scenery the river has to offer. £60 per boat for 6+ years.

Tom Robinson: White Riot, Gulbenkian Arts Centre, Sat 19 Feb

Experience a very special event with legendary musician Tom Robinson, a key voice in the Rock Against Racism movement in the 1970s. Watch a screening of Rubika Shah’s acclaimed documentary White Riot followed by Tom Robinson performing an intimate acoustic set with songs and stories from the time including Up Against The Wall, Glad To Be Gay and of course, 2-4-6-8 Motorway.

Fish puns incoming! One of Kent’s finest seafood destinations, Fish Union has announced they will be running new guest chef events. They have a brilliant line up of talent – all hooked up to take over the restaurant, kicking off (casting off!) with award winning Chef Roy Brett will be joining Fish Union co-owners and chefs Richard Kirkwood and Andy Roberts to take over their kitchen for a guest chef event on Thurs 24 Feb.

Sunday Feasting Club, The Curious Eatery, Sun 27 Feb

This brilliant little dining and event space is set up inside and outside The Albion Inn, Boughton Monchelsea. It might be tucked down a quiet street but this venue brings a lot of magic which is both loved by locals and a destination to in-the-know diners from further afield. Once a month they host Sunday Feats where they champion local produce and this February is no different.     The Gaia exhibition starts in May, so not sure why it is listed as happening in February Start date: 24th May 2022
    End date: 12th June 2022.

      Hi Katrina – good spot! Gaia, was meant to be arriving at Rochester Cathedral in February but has now been pushed back until May. Since it’s been postponed we have edited it out of the Feb Guide. Thanks for taking the time to Comment – much appreciated xA
