Shirley is a Liverpudlian housewife. Her kids have left home and she makes chips and egg for her husband while talking to the wall. Where has her life disappeared to? Out of the blue, her best friend offers her a trip to Greece for 2 weeks and she secretly packs her bags. She heads for the sun and starts to see the world and herself very differently. Following a major refurbishment project visitors will be able to explore the rich and diverse lives of everyday Egyptians and Greeks through a series of themed displays and interactive stations. An immersive experience awaits, with a multi-sensory blend of sights, sounds and smells as well as items to touch. Exhibits will include the only mummy in Kent – Ta-Kush. Come face-to-face with this ancient Egyptian woman, who died over 2,700 years ago, through an amazing life-size facial reconstruction and listen to her story.

Gum paste rose making workshop, Delicious Occasions, 11 Nov
This class takes place in the new Delicious Occasions studio set in the beautiful Kent countryside. Run by the owner, Claire, places are limited to 6 to allow maximum attention to each student. In this class you will learn the finer detail of the differences of roses, covering the David Austin and Claire Austin rose. Learn how to create these beautiful popular flowers using wired and none wired techniques, cutters and veiners. All equipment is provided and you can take your finished work home with you. Wild Winter Family Rave, Groombridge Place, 11 Nov

Cyclo Cross, Leeds Castle, 12 Nov
A chance for Leeds Castle visitors to add interest to their Sunday walk… watch and learn about the growing cross country sport of Cyclo Cross. The London Cross League are holding a race in the Upper Parkland and anticipate between 300 and 400 riders will be taking part in races for all different ages. The course looks set to be eventful and fun, with riders having to tackle elements named after the Castle’s long history – ‘the joust’, ‘the wall’ and ‘the moat’.
