FRI 23 - SUN 25 MAR 2018
Legally Blonde, The Marlowe Theatre, Mon 19 – Sat 24 Mar
Muddy founder, Hero Brown, told me she took her daughter to see Legally Blonde last year and they both hooted their way through it, it was much funnier than she thought it would be. The current show has a celeb cast – Rita Simons (Roxy Mitchell in BBC’s EastEnders) Lucie Jones (Eurovision UK representative 2017) and the delicious Bill Ward (James Barton in Emmerdale, Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street) as Professor Callahan. Read the Muddy review here. Grab a group of girlies and go have a giggle.
Dazzling Daffodils, Hever Castle, 21 – 25 Mar
With 14,000 new daffodil bulbs set to bloom across the gardens (with a bit of luck, once the snow has gone!) there will be a wide range of varieties to enjoy. The brand new daffodil event will throw the spotlight on the narcissus family and showcase the new and the best in daffodils. Master grower Johnny Walkers of Walkers Bulbs, and winner of 35 RHS gold medals will be onsite giving free talks and tours and will be sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of bulbs accrued over a lifetime growing daffodils.
Powerful Tides exhibition, The Historic Dockyard Chatham, 23 Mar
This month sees the launch of an exhibition celebrating The Dockyard’s 400th anniversary! This Kent attraction is definitely worth a visit – my son in particular loved it – and there’s extra stuff going on to mark the special anniversary which will appeal as much to us adults too. 400 years through art are explored with the gallery displaying paintings on what The Dockyard used to look like, from industrial scenes, to romantic and community scenes. The gallery also includes loans from the Tate Modern, Turner Contemporary as well as artwork featuring Tracey Emin.
Astronomy Evening, Bore Place, Friday 23 March
Join the Edenbridge and District Astronomers for an evening looking at the night sky. Fingers crossed for a clear night so you can look through powerful telescopes to see the Moon and seek out dark sky objects. The team will talk you through the observations and give hints and tips about other key astronomical objects or events you can look out for over the coming months.
