Get holiday inspired!
Forget googling for hours Baldwins Travel will answer all those niggling questions and give you a glass of wine
I don’t know about you, but as I’ve got older I’ve realised that time, rather than money, is a more precious, sought after commodity (deep, yes, I know). I used to think that hours googling holiday destinations would save me pennies, but now I’m not so sure that’s the case. And anyway if there’s an expert that can do the job for me, efficiently and get it right at no extra expense then I’m in. So, I thought I’d give you a heads up on a fun holiday showcase happening in Kent and Sussex this Saturday 1 April. And I’ve even asked my friend and colleague, Muddy Sussex, to give you some pointers on a few of companies taking part – because she’s a globe-trotting, travel journo in her spare time (fancy, right?). Over to you Debbie:
Baldwins Travel have eight branches across Kent and Sussex, they’re a good independent travel agency who I’ve known about for years because they really know their stuff and are always popping up winning awards. This April 1 they’re holding a Holiday Inspirations day across all their branches with drinks, tastings, prizes, information and advice between 10.00am and 4.00pm.
The idea is you drop in meet the Baldwins team but also some great tour operators and cruise lines they work with who they’ve invited along for the day. They can tell you more about their holidays and really whet your appetite, plus answer your niggling questions like ‘Will I like a cruise if I’m not a pensioner? Can I take my kids on safari? When’s the best time of year to go to Asia? Which destinations are best value at the moment?’ Oh, and you’ll have fun as well with wine, prize draws and the like.
Baldwin’s Kent branches are in Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge or Cranbrook, Maidstone, Tenterden and Sevenoaks and in Lewes and Uckfield in Sussex.
At Lewes the special guests on Saturday are cruise lines P&O and Cunard and Sussex-based luxury tour operator Classic Collection which specialises in the Med, the Caribbean, Bermuda, and the Middle East. (They’re big on Croatia BTW which is trending at the moment due to its good value). I have experience of both cruise lines who’ll be there. My parents took a couple of luxury Cunard cruises and raved about them and I took a P&O cruise myself last year to see the Grand Prix (yes, they do that sort of stuff). I was surprised that though the core demographic was pensioners, as I’d expected, there were also lots of young families as it’s an affordable, fun alternative to a typical beach holiday with onboard childcare – great for a multi-generational holiday.
Up at Tonbridge you can speak to Fred Olsen Cruise Line and US specialists Funway Holidays. At Tunbridge Wells there will be Australia and New Zealand specialists Anzcro, plus Cox & Kings – who specialise in luxury tours and adventure and are particular experts on India, and Star Clippers who do really romantic cruises on old fashioned sailing ships – great for a honeymoon or special anniversary.
At Cranbrook the guest is all-inclusive specialist Mark Warner who are good for sporty, active families.
So, there are some pointers from me but to chat to the experts get along to one of the Baldwin branches this Saturday. Full details here.
