Eat to beat your hormones

Wanna age wonderfully? 'Course you do! Here's our expert's top 10 hormone busting products that you can buy TODAY!

Yup, we’re going to talk about the other M word – not Muddy, or motherhood, or even (espresso) martinis. But menopause. You may well know that the average age for reaching this life stage is 51, but new research has discovered that over a third of women go into perimenopause – the transitional stage when hormones start shifting – as young as 35. Yup 35 folks.

But the good news is that there’s loads of little diet and lifestyle tweaks we can do to help ourselves age wonderfully – balance those hormones – and just help towards feeling and looking good in general. Which is why yoga and wellbeing studio Flow Tunbridge Wells have launched a series of Food & Mood workshops co-hosted by founder of Flow, Lucy Parker, and Annie Gill from Healthsmart Nutrition. Here you’ll learn loads of diet and yoga tips – and create tasty, healthy dishes for boosting wellbeing (and then chow down on them!).

On Sun 11 Nov 2018 you can join the Food & Mood (The Menopause) workshop which will be offering practical dietary advice on helping your body through the hormonal changes associated with this time. Flow is a welcoming, small studio set in the garden haven of owner Lucy Parker’s home in the heart of Tunbridge Wells and these are where the workshops take place (see, below right, for the last Food and Mood workshop and Annie and Lucy, below left).

To give you a taste of what to expect, here’s Annie’s top 10 hormone busting products:

Annie recommends: Get some Phytoestrogens in your diet to buffer the hormone roller-coaster. These include: Chickpeas, Lentils, Flaxseeds, Pumpkin, Sunflower, Sesame Seeds and Soya (non GM).

Try: Waitrose mixed seeds (with pumpkin, sunflower, sesame seeds and linseed).

Try: Biona Organic Chick Peas.

Try: Frozen Edamame by Birds Eye (certified non-GM)
