THE LOWDOWN

The Leicester Arms is a Grade II listed property with a rich and proud history, located on the High St in the heart of the village. The perfect pitstop for walkers, cyclists and tourists visiting local attractions like Penshurst Place and the surrounding gardens.

To give some idea of how much this part of the world is steeped in proper medieval history, this pub was once part of the Penshurst Estate, it was named in honour of a previous owner of Penshurst Place, Robert Sidney, Viscount De L’Isle, when he was appointed Earl of Leicester in 1618.

EAT

This iconic pub has just gone through a major transformation under the new ownership of the Little & Large Pub Company, restoring the pub to its former glory and we can confirm, it’s stunning. The building is full of traditional English country style with exposed wooden, beams, fireplaces and cosy, inviting interiors.

Open all day, enjoy lunch or dinner the beautiful old pub building, or in the summer months, out on the terrace and covered pergola. The seasonal menus focus on provenance, showcasing the best of local Kentish ingredients, sourced directly from local farms and producers.

SLEEP

Upstairs is where you’ll find 11 botanically inspired bedrooms, all telling their own tale ranging in size and character, complete with gorgeous names like Thyme, Heather, Primrose, Buttercup and Bluebell – which one will you choose?

Each of the bedrooms are individually designed with super king luxury beds, minibar, pure cotton bedlinen, very fluffy towels and the little touches to make you feel right at home. Have a relaxing soak in one of the roll top baths or gaze out of the windows over looking the Kent countryside.

They’re experienced in hosting wedding parties, which is lucky as they are opposite a simply stunning church. The spacious rooms have super king luxury beds and some have roll top baths with beautiful views, the perfect space for a couple wanting to spend their wedding night and to house family and friends from their wedding party.
