Bank House, Chislehurst

We love this fabulous wine bar and kitchen – a great place to meet friends for a cocktail or a perfect location for a delicious date night.

THE VIBE

Set on bustling Chislehurst High Street, Bank House is a fantastic wine bar and kitchen. An ideal location to pop in for dinner with friends or to sample a cocktail (or two!). We love the delicious sharing plates, sleek interiors, exposed brick walls and buzzy atmosphere. It’s friendly, stylish and welcomingly unpretentious.

THE TEAM

Renowned chef, Stuart Gillies, and his wife Cecilia opened Bank House in 2019. The credentials here are pretty impeccible  – and Stuart has enjoyed a prestigious journey of 30 plus years in the hospitality industry. His work has taken him around the world and onto our television screens with appearances on Great British Menu, Saturday Kitchen, Masterchef Professionals and Hell’s Kitchen USA.

Stuart has worked at Le Caprice, and with Gordon Ramsay at Aubergine, before becoming Head Chef at Teatro, Head Chef at The Connaught with Angela Hartnett and as most notably as Chef Patron at the Berkeley Hotel. And now he and Cecilia are running their own restaurants on their own terms.

THE FOOD

We know you’ll love the menu at the Bank House. Choose from a great selection of freshly prepared European small plates of artisan food (locally sourced where possible). Great for sharing with friends and a really sociable way to eat. Our favourites are the green harissa tiger prawn skewers, grilled Rye Bay scallops and the spicy nduja on sour dough toast with parmesan. And not overlooking the amazing desserts, try warm cinnamon and caramel doughnuts with vanilla custard (oh if I must!). There are also vegan, gluten free and dairy free options.

Sunday Brunch at The Bank House is really popular. Visit between 11.30am and 5.15pm and choose from a number of different roasts. Roast sirloin of aged Angus beef, braised lamb shoulder and roast loin of Wiltshire pork and crackling are all on the menu and accompanied by vegetables, duck fat roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings.

THE DRINK

You cannot visit Bank House without sampling the cocktail menu. Cocktails on tap (yes that’s right!) include Rum Punch + Tommys Margarita. There is also a fantastic cocktail menu featuring classics such as Cosmopolitans and Pornstar Martinis or delicious alcohol free options including the Hibiscus Hoyriri. There is a wine list of over 100 bottles and these are a collection of natural, biodynamic and well known luxury classics.

Bank House also hosts live music evenings, workshops and can even be hired exclusively for private events. I mean, really, this place has it all!
