THE LOWDOWN

This 13th-century stunner and childhood home of Anne Boleyn has everything you’d want from a castle – towers, a moat, and a royal haunting thanks to rumours that Anne’s ghost still resides in the chambers. There’s plenty to love about this fab family day out including a lake and water maze, for cooling off in the summer, or cosy dining and accommodation, for winter date nights.

HISTORY LOVERS

Experience 700 years of history at Hever Castle with 125 acres of award winning gardens to explore, discover and enjoy. An important historic castle on the English landscape, this was once the family home of one of England’s most famous Queens – Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I.

The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or castle entrance.

GLORIOUS GARDENS

Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn’s Walk.

FAMILY FUN

We especially love the elaborate play areas which include Acorn Dell, a natural playground for toddlers and children up to seven years old, or for older children there’s the brilliantly interactive fort, called Tudor Towers, an adventure playground aimed at children 7-14 years old. These are superb for getting their imagination going and inspiring interactive play.

Plus there’s food and ice cream options aplenty. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout each season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team, Jousting Tournaments and Falconry Demonstrations in the summer or Halloween events in October Half Term. Make sure you visit soon!
