THE STORY

Founded in 2020 by Joanna Mason, the Kent Academy of Musical Theatre, (KAMT) is run by a team of welcoming and experienced teachers, under Joanna’s lead. With a joint BA Honours in Performing Arts with Dance and Choreography, Joanna also has a background in education, having spent 12 years in secondary schools, including seven years as Head of a Performing Arts faculty, that was reviewed as Outstanding.

THE CLASSES

KAMT offers classes suitable for all ages – from Babies/Toddlers & Pre-Schooler Classes to Children’s Classes – and Adults too. If you’ve got a passion for taking to the stage then this is the perfect, friendly and approachable environment in which to learn. Private Singing, Dancing, LAMDA Musical Theatre, Piano and Guitar lessons are also available.

There’s even a group called Showstoppers which is for anyone who simply loves performing in musicals and wants to be on the stage doing exactly that! KAMT puts on two large scale semi-professional musicals a year in a theatre.

THE AIMS

The KAMT teaching philosophy is based on fun and professionalism for all, whilst lessons are tailored to suit each age group. This allows teachers the flexibility to adapt classes for individual students, ensuring that every student is given the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Kent Academy of Musical Theatre aims to offer all of our students wonderful opportunities to explore and express their creativity, passion and enthusiasm for Musical Theatre by taking part in classes focusing on acting, dance, singing and fitness as well as opportunities for examinations, competitions, theatre visits, workshops, masterclasses and performances.
