We are excited to discover Mount Ephraim. A privately owned, late Victorian family home situated in stunning grounds nestled in between Faversham, Canterbury and Whitstable (and only one hour from London). This is the perfect getaway for family and friends or even for a day trip to enjoy a cream tea and wander round the gardens.

Mount Ephraim has been the home of the Dawes family since 1695. The estate includes a main house with immaculate Edwardian gardens (open to the public between April and September) plus views over 800 acres of woodland. The gardens are truly beautiful and highlights include incredible topiary, a grass maze, an arboretum, rose gardens and lake. Situated in the pretty village of Hernhill, Mount Ephraim is walking distance from two pubs and easily accessible for a weekend (just a couple of miles from the end of the M2). What’s not to love?

STAY

For larger groups, the Garden Wing is a spacious self-catering option sleeping up to 12. With six double bedrooms, generous living areas, a large kitchen/diner and even a games room, it’s ideal for family gatherings or celebratory weekends away. For a more intimate and refined escape, the West Wing offers elegant, individually styled ensuite guest rooms set within the historic house. Available on selected weekends, these exclusive stays are perfect for couples or small groups seeking a peaceful countryside retreat. For something a little different, the estate’s glamping pods provide a relaxed rural experience overlooking the fruit farm. Blending rustic charm with modern comfort, they’re ideal for couples, young families or anyone looking to unwind close to nature.

EAT

The West Wing tea room is open to garden visitors. Please see website for opening times. Enjoy home made sandwiches, cream teas, ice creams, cakes and hot and cold drinks. A fabulous place to sit and take in the views of the topiary on the stunning terrace.

EVENTS

Mount Ephraim can be privately hired for weddings and events and the team can help advise on suppliers to ensure your event is planned to perfection.
