THE LOWDOWN

You’ve probably heard of THE PIG . The indie hotel chain has fast become one of THE coolest places to visit in the UK, with its excellent foodie credentials and a glittering client list that is the envy of most establishments.

THE PIG-at Bridge Place, is the latest PIG of the litter. Located just 56 minutes by train from central London, tucked away outside the historic village of Bridge, and three miles south of Canterbury, bringing all of that gorgeous countryside rustic charm just outside the city.

STAY

The hotel sits in a red brick building with a rock-n-roll vibe, which over the past four decades has been home to some renowned parties and gigs playing host in the ‘70s to Led Zeppelin and the like. With super stylish interiors boasting lots of gorgeous period features, including large fireplaces, secret stairways, panelled rooms and endless nooks and crannies.

There’s a unique mix of rooms here – with far reaching views out across the Kent countryside, and all finished in THE PIG signature style. There are 7 characterful bedrooms in the main house, 12 light and spacious rooms in the Coach House, 2 family friendly lodges; and The Barn, a rustic romantic two-storey hideaway in the old stables.

Additionally, 7 Kentish Hop Pickers’ Huts on stilts sit alongside the river in the grounds, each has been made from reclaimed materials and has a double-bedroom with fitted bathroom and wood burning stove. A wonderfully quirky and cool nod to Kentish tradition there.

EAT

The Coach House is also home to the restaurant, filled with signature PIG touches but feeling markedly different to its sister restaurants with a kitchen that opens-up into the space, letting you in on the action. With a kitchen garden and the emphasis always on the home-grown as it is locally sourced within a 25 mile radius, they describe themselves as having an obsessive commitment to simple food, done well. Hallelujah, that’s just how we like it!

TREATMENTS

And as if that wasn’t enough for you (cheeky) wander through the walled Kitchen Garden, alongside the brook and into its Potting Shed Treatment Rooms, where you can enjoy a brilliant variety of revitalising body and facial treatments in peace.

A seriously stylish stay, fine dining and treatment rooms all rolled into one? This place really is Piggy perfection. Oink, oink!
