Pomus, Margate

Pomus is Margate’s stylish neighbourhood spot. Think wine bar, restaurant, and pantry store all rolled into one, serving up low-waste, seasonal dishes and award-winning wines, all celebrating the best of Kent’s local produce.

THE LOWDOWN

In the heart of Margate’s vibrant town centre, Pomus brings something refreshingly thoughtful to the table. More than just a restaurant, Pomus is a neighbourhood wine bar, bottle shop, and pantry supply store, all rooted in a deep love for local produce, sustainable practices, and inclusive hospitality.

Founded by Ryan Jacovides, a seasoned hospitality expert and former director at the Jamie Oliver Group, Pomus is his first solo venture and the result is a relaxed yet refined space that feels like a natural extension of Kent’s rich food and drink culture.

Taking its name from the Ancient Greek word “pōmus”, meaning “fruit tree,” the ethos at Pomus is clear: to nurture, share, and celebrate the abundance of the Garden of England. The menu champions a low-waste, seasonal approach, designed to be as inclusive as it is delicious. Expect flavour-packed dishes that put local heroes front and centre, Whitstable Oysters, Cheesemakers of Canterbury, Chapel Down, Westwell, and more.

Whether you’re popping in for a glass of wine and a few small plates, browsing the shelves for pantry essentials, or sitting down for a full meal, Pomus welcomes you like a local. It’s a place to gather, explore, and enjoy the very best that Kent has to offer. Pomus is a firm Margate favourite.
