Rare Breeds Centre, Ashford

Set on a 100-acre farm there’s lots to keep the whole family entertained at The Rare Breeds Centre near Ashford.

THE EXPERIENCE

Children can meet and pet friendly animals from the Children’s Barn, home to friendly farmyard animals including cuddly rabbits, guinea pigs, the cheeky goats and their well-known highland cow, Huckleberry.

After you’ve finished with the animals you are spoilt for choice with a load of brilliant outdoor activities. Hop aboard the accessible tractor trailer ride and take a tour of the farm, up to the secret lake, passing the huge tyre snack and heading back down the hill. Even challenge yourself in the Mysterious Marsh, navigating bridges, swinging on tyres and testing balance. All whilst avoiding the marsh trolls! Or head round the corner to Hill Fort to rule the castle, fly through the air on the zipline or navigate round the tunnel maze.

EAT

You can visit one of the food outlets on your way round the farm to get an instant caffeine boost, from a selection of barista coffees and alternative milks. Or if you are looking for a sweet treat, a range of ice creams are on offer, because its always ice cream weather! Or if you are feeling more peckish, make your way to the Granary Restaurant, where you can enjoy a wide variety of freshly prepared food, with vegan and vegetarian options available.

The best part? With every visit to The Rare Breeds Centre, you are also supporting their charity, Canterbury Oast Trust, which supports adults with learning disabilities to achieve their aspirations for how they wish to live, learn and work.

Check out the website for all activities on during your visit, available at no extra cost. And don’t forget to book to guarantee entry. Follow them on TikTok.
