Rare Breeds Centre, Ashford

If you are looking for a fun and special day out with the Mudlets, head to the Rare Breeds Centre near Ashford.

THE LOWDOWN

Set on a 100 acre farm, the Rare Breeds Centre works to secure the future of rare and native breeds of farm wildstock, with pigs, cows, cattle, horses, poultry, goats, birds of prey and rodents all living within the grounds.

THE EXPERIENCE

Children can meet and pet friendly animals, including cuddly rabbits, hamsters, new born chicks, goats and horses. And if you’re really lucky, you may even meet a piglet or two.

After you’ve finished with the animals you are spoilt for choice with a load of brilliant outdoor activities. Check out the Aerial Assault Course, (including the brass rubbing trails through the Rainbow Wood – can you find the Giants?) on to the Aerial Assault Course at the Mysterious Marsh, Big Red Trailer Rides, Tube Maze and Hill Fort. And if it’s a rainy day, the Animals’ barn is open every day for you to say hello up close to the pigs, cows, guinea pigs, horses and more

EAT

There’s the Granary Patio restaurant on site for a freshly made bite cooked to order. To see what else is on offer have a look at the map of the whole farm here. Or grab a fab takeaway from our Granary Patio restaurant or bring a picnic to eat in Benson Barn – the Giants Seats are usually most sought-after areas to set up camp.

What’s more, the centre supports adults with learning disabilities to develop their skills and knowledge – so there’s a lot of good things happening in this fun and special place.

Open from 10am until 4.30pm – Tuesday – Sunday  (Closed every Monday excluding school holidays).
