The Ceramic Studio, Brenchley

We were so excited to unearth this hidden gem, a gorgeous new studio space for anyone that wants to give pottery or sculpture a go. Get creative and unwind with your friends – or join a course – you can even sign your kids up for ceramic classes too.

THE LOWDOWN

If ever there was an antidote to the digital world – the perfect mindful activity if you like – pottery is surely it? It’s the perfect tactile pastime, allowing you to slow down, focus on one artistic activity – and come away with a real sense of achievement.

No wonder there are Prime Time TV shows dedicated to the cause!

Now we’ve found a gorgeous place where you can join classes, book to attend with friends – or take your children to learn. It’s moments from Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge and has just expanded. What are you waiting for?

THE LOCATION

Set in a converted barn on a beautiful orchard in Brenchley, The Ceramic Studio is easily accessible from Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Paddock Wood. The pottery classes are run by experienced, dedicated tutors and class sizes are small to ensure everyone’s needs are met (and complete novices are welcomed with open arms!).

The studio is light and airy with a spacious, open plan layout. The hand building area is large and well equipped with a slab roller and an extensive collection of pottery tools. The throwing area has 14 wheels – exciting – but ceramics is not all about pottery of course, and they also have an additional self-contained classroom for sculpture, porcelain and other art mediums.

The studio also runs an exciting programme of guest potter workshops – Craig Underhill, Chris Keenan, Dylan Bowen and Frances Savage are just some of the names confirmed for 2025.

FAMILY TASTERS

On the last Saturday of every month the studio run family taster sessions. You will get to experience hand building techniques and learn how to make mugs or bowls and also experience the exciting thrill of the wheel! Anyone aged 5 & over is welcome to join.
