The Duck Inn, Pett Bottom
A rising star in the foodie world this traditional country pub serves up innovative, flavoursome food in a relaxed setting...
The foodie fanatics in Kent will no doubt already be familiar with this pub and restaurant set in the beautiful Kent countryside, as the kitchen has steadily gained a strong reputation for dining excellence. Plus there’s a James Bond connection – what more could you want?
This is a great traditional, out of the way country gastropub, serving modern and traditional British food in a relaxed environment. Doggie-friendly and muddy boots welcome, (oh, we like!) with a Summer Garden Braai (South African BBQ) in warmer weather and Sunday Roasts to get us through the winter and beyond – there’s something here for all palettes.
In fact, the team of chefs are always coming up with new and exciting seasonal dishes so please be aware the menus change daily. You can take a look here at the sample menus to get an idea of what’s on offer. From Pan Fried Skate and Confit Pork Belly to Wild Mushroom & Summer Vegetable Linguine, there’s fish, meat and veggie offerings on the menu. And we’re talking delicious hearty bowls of flavoursome food here.
Plus, one for the fact fans, this is the pub where Ian Fleming wrote You Only Live Twice. In fact Fleming wrote it into the story of our favourite spy, The Duck Inn at Pett Bottom gets a mention in the novel as being near James Bond’s childhood home. As if you needed another reason to visit.
While the setting is traditional British pub with a warm welcome and cosy corners – the food here is pretty forward thinking and innovative. There’s also a great outside garden for enjoying that Braai BBQ on warmer days. This pub is definitely a foodie star that continues its ascent.
