THE LOWDOWN
Located in Margate, The WonderWorks is based in the old factory which became home to Hornby Hobbies in 1954. The former Hornby Visitor Centre opened in 2010 and attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world. Featured in the popular TV series ‘Hornby: A Model World’, it has provided viewers with a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Britain’s best loved model-making companies.
Now in 2024, this brand new family attraction is a showcase of the UK’s best known hobby brands such as Hornby, Scalextric, Airfix, Corgi and Pocher. A visit to The WonderWorks will include exploring showstopper exhibition pieces that are constantly evolving so you can be sure they’ll be something new to see with every visit.
So whether you’re a speed freak, engine geek, model train hobbiest in the attic, or James Bond car fanatic, you’ll find your happy at Margate’s The WonderWorks.
EVENTS
In addition find a fascinating range of free daily workshops to help improve your skills. Workshops will include activities such as how to weather your locomotive, tech talks, an introduction to HM7000 and a guide to playing Warlord Games. Keep an eye on all the events here.
