Woolton Farm, Canterbury

This one’s a right rural hidden gem…Visit Woolton Farm for its wonderful cider and award-winning wines, eat local produce in rustic restaurant and then stay in one of three holiday cottages or book a bell tent in The Barn Garden.

EXCEPTIONAL CIDER AND WINES

Woolton Farm, near Canterbury in Kent, is steeped in family history and fruit growing heritage. As a family they have been working this land for over 100 years.

Locals with a discerning palate (that’s all of us, right?) will probably have already discovered delicious Kentish Pip Cider and their fabulous range of award-winning, distinctive East of England ciders. Well the family behind this tasty tipple have several other strings to their bow that we thought you’d want to know about, all based on Woolton Farm near Canterbury.

FAMILY HISTORY

10 years ago this family business planted a vineyard and bottled their first cider for sale to the public. Now over a decade later, Woolton wines are winning some of the most prestigious awards in the world and Kentish Pip cider is a leading player in the craft cider market, distributed across the UK and available in Kent and London’s best venues, from Michelin Starred restaurants to indie bottle shops and some high street favourites. Not bad, eh?

The farm too has developed into a wonderful offering of all the best elements of hospitality – eat, stay and play.

There’s a shop and cider garden to stroll around, or sit and drink in the sun. Plus there’s experiences on offer – with private tours and tastings. AND a rustic restaurant, The Barn, which serves the very best local produce and a brilliant selection of accommodation so you could even make a weekend of it.

BOOK A TABLE

For mouthwatering plates – such as a Kentish Charcuterie Platter or Kentish Cheese Board – you’ll want to head to The Barn and enjoy a locally sourced lunch in a special setting.

There’s other light bites like sausage rolls or sandwiches and Butchers Bacon roll or Local smoked trout bagel, pastries, cakes and drinks. There’s always a vegan option available (including for those all-important cakes).

The menu changes seasonally, so it’s good to check the website for updates. They host guest chefs too and feature fun cooking events in the garden during the summer for example (again details of this are regularly updated online).

The Deli has a wonderful array of all the delish meats and cheeses they serve – all available to take away – perfect for gifting or stocking up your own larder.

Sample the finest Kentish produce at The Barn, try our wonderful Woolton Farm wines and explore our accommodation options from camping to luxury self catered houses.

TOURS AND TASTINGS

Visit The Barn for a Five Cider Tasting Flight (£15) or the Woolton Wine Tasting Flight (£20) – we think that’s great value.

GLAMPING, CAMPING & SELF CATERING STAYS

And that’s not all! Woolton Farm has three gorgeous self-catered properties and eight bell tents, dotted along a row of cobnut trees. If you’re after self-catering cottages then The Oast and Old Tannery are located on the Village Green in Littlebourne, while Ellens Cottages sits in the centre of the farm.

The Bell tents, for glamping, and the camping sites sit in the beautiful fruit garden behind the barn. Ellen’s Meadow is a beautifully peaceful setting to pitch your own tent. Backing onto the strawberry fields and further meadows, while it feels secluded, it is still within 200 yards of The Barn.
