<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE LOWDOWN&nbsp;</h2>



<p>The brilliant &#8211; and long standing &#8211; independent department store <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="Lenleys (opens in a new tab)" href="https://www.lenleys.co.uk" target="_blank">Lenleys</a> has been looking after customers in Kent and beyond for the past 85 years and to celebrate this monumental achievement, they have relaunched its Maidstone store (formerly Clarkes in Maidstone) as Lenleys Home. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Lenleys has everything you need to furnish your home, literally from top to bottom, so as we love a snoop around an interiors store, we hotfooted our way down to discover more especially with the allure of Orla Kiely’s new furniture range fresh on display. &nbsp;</p>

<p>One of the many things that we love about Lenleys is the family back story as it was founded in 1936 by school friends, Leonard Watts and Stanley Adsett, and is now led by Leonard’s granddaughter, Lavinia Watts, an experienced retailer with a background in fashion buying and the third generation of the Watts family to take the helm so it’s very much a local business with its heritage being firmly in Kent.&nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE LOCATION&nbsp;</h2>



<p>Positioned on Sandling Road, you can neatly dodge driving into the main thrust of Maidstone as Lenleys is on the edge of town. With that comes plenty of free parking which is a big plus when planning your journey. Just log your car registration details at the store and you can browse around the store without having to fret about topping up parking or getting an unwelcome fine. &nbsp;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">THE EXPERIENCE&nbsp;</h2>



<p>A lot of work has gone into the redevelopment of the store as the area is flooded with natural light and high ceilings and we are told that Alun, the in-house interior designer, was called upon to redesign the shop floor. They have also expanded the team with younger additions to widen the clientele beyond the typical Clarks customer who was 55+ plus. &nbsp;</p>

<p>You can tell that Lenleys Homes is looking to expand its demographic and lure a younger generation into the store. Gone are the 50 shades of grey for the sofa and in its place are bold, jewel colours popping out of every corner with emerald green being a key theme – as we have seen on the catwalks too this year, alongside some muted gold fabric pieces too. &nbsp;</p>

<p>You will also discover new brands at Lenleys Home that might appeal to a younger audience such as Orla Kiely who is known for her playful combination of colour and pattern within her work. We fell in love with the Alma armchair boldly decorated with big daisies on a bright yellow background – a colourful splash for any living space. Ercol is another big-seller for Lenleys so take advantage of that sale if you want to invest in some of its timeless furniture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Alexander and James is a new range at Lenleys, famed for its eclectic pieces using a combination of fabric and leather, but with deep seats to ensure that you may never want to leave once you have sat down. You can also pick up some lovely character items and accessories from the store for a point of difference for your home and we are told that they will be building their Accessories programme over the next few months.&nbsp;</p>

<p>More fashion-led bedrooms are also leading the way as customers look to emulate the boutique hotel experience that they have enjoyed when staying away and bringing that vibe back to their own pad. You little spoilt for choice at Lenleys with lots of options from the big players such as Vispring and Harrisons for you to try out and discover which bed is for you. &nbsp;</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">ANYTHING ELSE?&nbsp;</h2>



<p>The interior design service is all led from the Canterbury store BUT Maidstone customers can tap into that expertise, plus Canterbury has the full soft furnishings and flooring service too. There are whispers of garden furniture and a dedicated Christmas shop in the future but for the moment, we think you should have enough to be getting on with…! &nbsp;</p>
